Currently, the province has 647 schools with over 200,000 students. Recognizing the importance of life skills education in comprehensive development, the education sector has directed educational institutions to proactively integrate and organize many rich and practical activities, with increasingly diverse skills needed to equip students, from safe traffic participation skills, fire prevention and fighting, first aid, reproductive health care to accident and injury prevention skills, natural disaster response skills, self-protection skills against school violence, social evils and even sophisticated fraud tricks on the internet.
At the Provincial Boarding Ethnic High School, on the morning of November 3, after the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, the school coordinated with the Provincial Police Youth Union to organize extracurricular activities to propagate and disseminate knowledge on drug and electronic cigarette prevention, and instruct students on how to identify and avoid social evils. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thao, Vice Principal of the school, said: "This is just one of many activities we organize regularly. In the coming time, the school will continue to expand the forms of communication through competitions, forums, and practical experiences so that students can form necessary life skills for themselves."
At each level of education, life skills education is implemented in a way that is appropriate to the psychology of each age group. At preschool and primary levels, many schools integrate life skills education activities into lessons and experiential games, helping children form habits of communication, cooperation, self-service, and self-protection.
At the junior high and high school levels, life skills education is integrated into Civic Education lessons, experiential activities, and study tours. Schools also establish many clubs such as life skills clubs, youth propaganda clubs, school violence prevention clubs, etc. to create a regular training environment for students. This flexible and close approach has made life skills a natural part of school life, no longer an "extra class" but a "skill for living well".
Not only limited to each school, the provincial education sector also directed the entire sector to organize many thematic life skills education activities on a province-wide scale. Competitions such as: "Traffic safety for tomorrow's smiles", "Mock trial on school violence", "Fire prevention and escape drills", "Prevention of child abuse"... are regularly deployed, attracting a large number of students to participate.
According to the assessment of the Department of Education and Training, life skills education activities in schools in recent times have brought about clear results. Students are increasingly bolder and more confident in communication, knowing how to share and cooperate, knowing how to admit and correct mistakes, and having a positive attitude in studying and group activities. Many students have actively participated in social and charitable movements, and know how to care for their friends and the surrounding environment. Since then, school behavior culture has been significantly improved, contributing to building a safe, healthy and happy educational environment.
