According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting at 5am this morning, the center of storm Kalmaegi was about 390km east-southeast of Quy Nhon ( Gia Lai province). The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 14 (150-166km/h), gusting to level 17.
The eye of storm Kalmaegi is heading towards Quang Ngai - Gia Lai
Early this morning, Typhoon Kalmaegi was trending faster at about 30km/h - about 5km faster than yesterday.
It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the storm will continue to move west-northwest at a speed of about 25-30km/h and its intensity is unlikely to change.
At 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, the storm center was about 120km east of Quy Nhon (Gia Lai), the storm's intensity is likely to remain at level 14, gusting to level 17.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, the storm will continue to move west-northwest at a speed of about 25km/h and make landfall in the Quang Ngai - Gia Lai area from tonight to tonight, then move deeper inland and gradually weaken.
Due to the influence of storm Kalmaegi, in the central East Sea , the wind is strong at level 8-11, near the eye of the storm it is strong at level 12-14, gusting at level 17, waves are 5-7m high, near the eye of the storm it is 8-10m high, the sea is very rough.
From the morning of November 6, the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa (including Ly Son special zone, Cu Lao Cham island) will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-11, waves 3-6m high, the area near the storm center will have strong winds of level 12-14, gusts of level 17, waves 7-9m high.
Coastal areas from Hue to Dak Lak have storm surges of 0.4-0.8m. From the afternoon of November 6, coastal areas from Hue to Dak Lak are on guard against rising sea levels accompanied by large waves causing flooding in low-lying areas, waves overflowing dikes, coastal roads, coastal erosion, and slowing down flood drainage in the area.
Experts warn of the dangers of storm number 13
The area near the storm's eye is likely to have strong winds of level 10-12, gusting to level 14-15.
From the evening of November 6, on the mainland from south of Da Nang to Dak Lak, the wind gradually increased to level 6-7, then increased to level 8-9, the area near the storm's eye had strong winds of level 10-12, gusting to level 14-15, focusing on the eastern part of Quang Ngai - Gia Lai provinces.
The area from southern Quang Tri to northern Da Nang and northern Khanh Hoa province has strong winds of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9.
From the evening and night of November 6, in the west of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai, winds will gradually increase to level 6-7, and in the area near the storm's eye, winds will increase to level 8-9, gusting to level 11.
Today and tomorrow, in the area from Da Nang to Dak Lak, there will be very heavy rain with common rainfall of 200-400mm/period, locally over 600mm/period.
The area from southern Quang Tri to Hue, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong has heavy rain with common rainfall of 150-300mm/period, locally very heavy rain over 450mm/period.
On November 7 and 8, in the area from northern Quang Tri to Thanh Hoa, there will be moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 50-150mm/period, locally there will be very heavy rain over 200mm/period.
Due to the influence of the wide storm circulation, it is necessary to guard against the risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind both before and during the storm's landfall.
