While trailing 9-3, Tran Quyet Chien unexpectedly scored a series of 27 points. This massive scoring run allowed the number one Vietnamese player to take the match into halftime, leading 30-9. Ultimately, the player from Ha Tinh won convincingly 40-15 against Aveiga.
With his victory in the amateur tournament in the US, Tran Quyet Chien received a prize of $5,000 (approximately 131 million VND).
Tran Quyet Chien had an incredible 27-point winning streak in an amateur tournament in the US.
The last time Vietnam's number one billiards player had a 20-point streak was in the semi-finals of the 2025 World Vision 3-Cushion Carom Billiards Tournament, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards and Snooker Federation (HBSF) in early September. While leading Nguyen Chi Long 4-3, Quyet Chien had a 21-point streak, also forcing the match into a break, before ultimately winning 40-5.
Furthermore, in a match against Chiem Hong Thai at the end of 2024, in the round of 32 of the 2024 HBSF billiards championship, Tran Quyet Chien scored a series of 26 points to come from behind and win against his younger opponent. To date, this is also Quyet Chien's longest scoring series in an official tournament match.
