Nghi An Secondary School, Campus 2, with a total investment of nearly 23 billion VND, is in a state of abandonment and degradation after just over a year of completion. The 3-storey building with 18 classrooms, built in the middle of a large field, cannot be put into use due to lack of facilities and infrastructure.

According to records, the concrete road leading to the school is narrow, degraded and often stagnant when it rains. In addition to the main school building, the school campus also has a parking lot and a guard house. Although recently completed, the project has many cracks and stained walls.

The project, invested by the People's Committee of Nghi An Commune (old), started in 2023 and was completed in October 2024. However, according to Ms. Bành Thị Thúy Hà, former Principal of Nghi An Secondary School, the new facility does not meet the teaching conditions.

"The classrooms at the new facility are not only lacking but also have a smaller area than the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; students will also not have a playground, functional rooms or laboratories to implement the new program," Ms. Ha shared.

On October 2, 2024, the People's Committee of Nghi An Commune (old) requested the school to accept the handover to put into use and return the old premises. However, the school refused because the new facility only had 18 classrooms for 20 classes, lacked desks and chairs, a principal's office, functional rooms, a playground, a multi-purpose hall, an unfinished electrical system, and a messy entrance.

On October 31, Vinh Phu Ward People's Committee (after merging Nghi An commune) concluded on discussing the plan to organize teaching and learning at facility 2.

Campus 2 will be handed over in February, but is still lacking many important items such as the principal's office, council room, department rooms, and functional rooms, along with a lack of teaching equipment and a degraded road to the school.

The Ward People's Committee has assigned the Board of Directors of Nghi An Secondary School to develop a plan to organize teaching of gifted subjects and tutoring at the second facility and propose additional facilities before November 10.

Relevant departments and offices are also assigned to inspect and evaluate teaching conditions and advise on upgrading the road to the school.

Nghi An Secondary School is still temporarily organizing classes at its first facility, which has been seriously degraded after the recent storm.

Ms. Le Viet Hong, the school's principal, expressed concern about the quality of teaching and learning if the school had to move to a new facility that was not yet completed.

"My and my students' biggest wish is that the new school will soon be completed to meet standards so that students can study in better conditions," Ms. Hong shared.
