General Nguyen Trong Nghia appointed Chief of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, was appointed Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army and promoted from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

This morning, President Luong Cuong presided over the ceremony to announce and present the decision to appoint the position of Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and to present the decision to promote the ranks of general and senior general to VPA officers.

The President appointed Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, to hold the position of Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, promoting his rank from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was born in 1962, hometown Dong Thap province.

He was a member of the 13th Politburo; Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee; member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee; and a National Assembly delegate of the 14th and 15th terms.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia has decades of experience in the Army.

In September 2012, he was appointed Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. In February 2021, he became Head of the Central Propaganda Department. In February this year, after merging the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Mass Mobilization Department, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia was assigned as Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department.

The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army is responsible for Party and political work in the entire army, operating under the leadership of the Secretariat and directly and regularly under the Central Military Commission.
