Dao Tan Drama Troupe rehearses the play "Aspiration for the Country"

(GLO)-On the evening of November 4, Dao Tan Tuong Troupe (under Gia Lai Province Traditional Arts Theater) performed a general rehearsal of the opera Khat Vong Nui Song, attracting the attention of many artists and audiences who came to watch.

The play Khat Vong Nui Song was directed by People's Artist Nguyen Hoai Hue, the script was written by playwright Van Trong Hung, and adapted into a traditional opera by artist Doan Thanh Tam.

The production crew also includes Meritorious Artist Hoang Thanh Binh (assistant director), Meritorious Artist Dao Trung Nghia ( music composer and conductor), painter Nguyen Van Sau (art designer), artist Do Thi Kim Tien (choreographer) along with actors and musicians from Dao Tan Tuong Troupe, and some actors from Binh Dinh Bai Choi Opera Troupe as supporting actors.

The Aspiration for the Country is an epic poem honoring the life and career of patriotic scholar Tang Bat Ho (real name Tang Doan Van, born in 1858 in An Thuong village, Hoai An district, former Binh Dinh province). He was one of the typical scholars of the late 19th - early 20th century, who early advocated the path of fighting for independence and national modernization.

The play recreates Tang Bat Ho's arduous but aspirational journey to save the country - a journey of nearly 30 years from the Central region to the North and then to Thailand, China, Russia, and Japan, carrying with him a strong belief in the day of national reunification.

The main roles include: Artist Thai Phien as Tang Bat Ho; Artist Thanh Van as Xuan Mai; Meritorious Artist Ngoc Nhan as Le Nam; Artist Quoc Hoa as Emperor Mei Tri; Artist Thai Anh as Nguyen Than; and many other artists contributing to the tragic atmosphere of the era through the positive and negative characters.

Music, choreography and stage art are carefully invested, harmoniously combining tradition and creativity, helping the historical story become closer, vividly conveying the theme of the play to the audience through the traditional Hat Boi stage art.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Quynh, Director of Gia Lai Province Traditional Arts Theater, the play "Aspiration for the Country" is not only a work of art but also a profound tribute to the ancestors who devoted their lives to the ideal of national independence and freedom.

This is also a new play, staged according to the Theater's operating plan this year, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage value of Hat Boi art, adding more performances to serve the public.
