Selecting artifacts to prepare a dossier to propose recognition as National Treasures in 2025

(CT) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued an official dispatch to ministries, branches, political organizations, socio-political organizations at the central level; People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities on selecting artifacts to prepare dossiers to propose recognition as National Treasures.

Accordingly, in order to continue to identify and select artifacts of special value, rare and representative of the country in terms of history, culture and science , the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests organizations, units and localities to direct the selection and preparation of scientific dossiers of artifacts to propose recognition as National Treasures in 2025. Selection criteria are based on the provisions of Clause 1 and Point a, Clause 2, Article 44 of the Law on Cultural Heritage 2024. The proposal and dossier of artifacts must be sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before November 26, 2025. The dossier will be appraised and reviewed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before being submitted to the Prime Minister for signing the recognition decision.

According to statistics by the end of 2024, the whole country had 327 National Treasures recognized by the Prime Minister , currently being protected and promoting their value at museums, relic management boards, a number of archives centers, organizations and individuals nationwide.

In particular, Can Tho City currently has 4 national treasures: Nhon Thanh ceramic vase, Nhon Thanh mold set, Nhon Thanh Buddha statue, Nhon Thanh wooden Linga - Yoni, all belonging to Oc Eo culture and are being preserved at the city museum.
