Experience the unique heritage space of Hanoi Opera House

To celebrate the 115th anniversary of its inauguration, the Hanoi Opera House will host a special art program to honor its heritage value. This is an architectural work bearing a strong historical mark and is a cultural symbol of the capital Hanoi.

The special art project "115 years of Storytelling Theatre - Heritage spoken through light and technology" was officially announced by Hanoi Opera House in collaboration with Hexogon Vietnam on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the inauguration of Hanoi Opera House.

For the first time in history, the Hanoi Opera House temporarily closed its daily performance doors to become its own "stage". The entire space of the theater, from the lobby, stairs, auditorium to the dome, was "awakened" by light, images and sounds, recreating memories of more than a century of architectural heritage. The Opera House transformed from "heritage to admire" into "a living space to experience".

The program consists of 4 chapters, telling the story of the 115-year journey of Hanoi Opera House - connecting the past, present and future.

Chapter 1: Opening night 1911, the audience used AR tickets to "step through the door of time", returning to the moment of the inauguration of the Theater more than a century ago.

Chapter 2: Hanoi inside the Opera House, the entire architecture is transformed into a "time window" through 360° mapping technology, opening up layers of memories about Hanoi - from the colonial period, the war years to the moment of the August Revolution in 1945.

Exhibition, display and lighting elements are combined to honor every original detail, helping the audience feel the "soul" of the heritage.

Chapter 3: 115 years of Hanoi Theatre is a tribute to art and generations of artists associated with the Theatre. In particular, the image of August 19, 1945 at August Revolution Square is recreated as a symbol of the fusion of art and history.

Chapter 4: Theater of the Future, audiences will admire the glowing main auditorium, where light, sound and architecture tell a new story.

The program "Experience the vibrant space of the Opera House" starts from November 19 and ends on December 31.

Hanoi Opera House is a building of great historical, architectural and functional value. It is historical evidence of the cultural and social development of Hanoi and Vietnam during the French colonial period, a relic of a period of architectural development in Vietnam in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hanoi Opera House and Theatre Square are the places where important historical events took place associated with the August Revolution and the early years of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Having gone through a century with many ups and downs of national history, Hanoi Opera House still exists firmly, becoming a great cultural address and a beautiful architectural work of the more than one thousand year old capital Hanoi.

Hanoi Opera House was recognized as a national monument in December 2021.
