Long Xuyen is one of the key wards of the province, the ward police play a key role in ensuring security and order. However, the security and order situation in the area still has some potential complications. Law violations, encroachment on sidewalks, and public disorder still occur; crime prevention and control model activities are sometimes not given due attention... Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Chinh - Head of Long Xuyen Ward Police said that the unit has recorded many practical contributions from the people. With a receptive spirit, the force quickly absorbed, had directions to overcome, and effectively fought against all kinds of crimes and social evils. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Ward Police have coordinated to organize more than 3,000 patrols, dispersed 75 cases of late-night gatherings, 3 groups of teenagers gathering to fight, dispersed 6 casinos, cockfighting, reminded 52 cases of awareness of property protection; established records to deter and educate 298 subjects with acts of disturbing public order, gambling, suspected theft, loan sharking...
Chairwoman of Long Xuyen Ward People's Committee Doan Thi Huong Ha suggested: "The ward police seriously and fully receive the opinions of the people, promptly rectify and handle related issues, limitations and shortcomings; at the same time proactively prevent, promptly detect and handle all types of crimes and social evils; focus on managing residence, temporary residence, temporary absence and fire prevention and fighting in residential areas. The people continue to contribute opinions to build the ward police force to be increasingly clean, strong, close, and a reliable support for the people."
Ensuring peace in border areas
After the merger, My Thoi Ward has a relatively large border area with neighboring communes and wards, so the work of ensuring and maintaining security and order in the area has always been of interest and closely directed by the ward leaders. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Vinh - Head of My Thoi Ward Police, in 2025, the forum "Police listen to people's opinions" was held in 19/19 hamlets, attracting 595 participants. The unit received 62 comments on online fraud, security and order in some areas, property theft still occurring, and suggested installing surveillance cameras on the roads to fight, prevent and combat crime... "We take note of the comments, continue to coordinate with departments, branches, unions, and hamlets to organize meetings to propagate and mobilize the entire population to participate in the fight against crime. At the same time, synchronously deploy all aspects of work and professional measures to grasp the situation, strictly manage key subjects in the area, ensure security and order in the border area", Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Vinh emphasized.
Since the beginning of the year, through patrolling and controlling the area, the Ward Police have discovered and handled 5 gambling cases involving 41 subjects, 12 property theft cases involving 14 subjects, established files to prevent subjects suspected of social evils, made 36 subjects commit, and dispersed a group of teenagers with suspicious signs of using weapons to fight... Chairman of the People's Committee of My Thoi Ward Vuong Mai Trinh affirmed: "The forum "Police listen to people's opinions" has brought positive results, helping the police force grasp the local security and order situation, resolve grievances, improve the spirit and working attitude of officers and soldiers. At the same time, it contributes to building a clean and strong police force and strengthening the close relationship with the people".
The forum “Police listen to people’s opinions” is not only an opportunity for people to reflect their thoughts and aspirations, but also an opportunity for the police force to self-examine, self-correct, improve its sense of responsibility, and serve the people better.
