Lesson 2: What do businesses and investors need?
In the context of a rapidly changing and increasingly complex global economy , businesses and investors need to have appropriate adaptation strategies, maximize advantages to improve competitiveness and meet market needs.
Cooperation for development
As a business established in Tay Ninh and developed with the support of the provincial government over the past 56 years, Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company (abbreviated as AgriS) is one of the high-tech agricultural corporations holding a leading position in the sugarcane and coconut production and trading industry in Vietnam.
With the vision of becoming a multi-utility, one-stop agricultural product solution provider, AgriS has been pioneering in creating a sustainable circular agricultural value chain ecosystem, integrating 3 main technology pillars: Agricultural Technology (AgTech) - Food Technology (Foodtech) - Financial Technology (Fintech), all operating on the ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) governance platform according to international standards.
AgriS is proud to be in the top 100 private enterprises with the largest budget contributions in the country and one of the units with the highest budget contributions in Tay Ninh .
Improving product quality is a requirement that foreign enterprises set for Tay Ninh agricultural products in particular and the whole country in general.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Phuong - representative of Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company, said: “AgriS wishes to continue to cooperate closely with the province and partners in developing the agricultural supply chain from production, processing, logistics to international trade. We are committed to continuing to invest in modern technology, expanding sustainable raw material areas, implementing circular agricultural models and connecting global markets for local agricultural products. By taking advantage of the geo-economic advantages and agricultural potential of Tay Ninh, AgriS will work with partners to build the province into a strategic supply center, contributing to the regional economic development and affirming the position of Vietnamese agriculture in the international arena”.
OSB Group (part of Alibaba Group in Vietnam) has been associated with Tay Ninh province for 3 years. Here, OSB Group supports about 30 export enterprises on the Alibaba platform. According to OSB Group's assessment, Tay Ninh has a lot of potential for enterprises to cooperate and develop together.
Ms. Truong Phuong Thoa - representative of OSB Group, emphasized: "Tay Ninh province has a very potential export market share, in which the number of exporting enterprises accounts for over 50% of the number of enterprises in the whole Mekong Delta region. In addition, the province has many key products such as agricultural products, food, leather shoes, textiles, etc. However, to develop further, we hope that the provincial departments, branches and sectors will promote the importance of e-commerce because Tay Ninh has many potential enterprises but is still hesitant in exporting goods internationally. In the coming time, our goal is to build and support 100 enterprises in the province to put their products on the cross-border e-commerce platform Alibaba".
Improve product quality
The province’s potential has attracted the attention of many major partners and achieved many positive results in its import-export growth plan. However, along with the opportunities are strict requirements on product quality.
Specifically, foreign enterprises require local enterprises to improve quality, standardize production processes and build brands, especially products must be associated with cultural stories and local identity to create an impression.
Trade Counselor in Japan - Mr. Ta Duc Minh emphasized: "Japan is considered the most "difficult" market in Asia, just one quality incident can affect long-term reputation. Therefore, we recommend that Tay Ninh enterprises proactively obtain HACCP, ISO, GlobalGAP certification to create advantages; build brands of typical products such as Tay Ninh fruit, Tay Ninh pepper associated with growing areas, geographical indications; take advantage of e-commerce to bring products directly to consumers, reduce dependence on traditional channels; connect the Japanese - Vietnamese supply chain: Cooperate with Japanese importers, logistics enterprises, distribution systems to ensure stability and longevity. If Vietnamese enterprises, including Tay Ninh enterprises, proactively improve quality - build brands - exploit e-commerce - connect supply chains, we can completely expand market share, increase the value of Vietnamese goods in Japan".
With its available advantages and potentials, Tay Ninh has attracted domestic and foreign companies and enterprises to invest in the province.
Since the two countries established diplomatic relations on August 1, 1993, the friendship and economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have developed well.
Trade between Vietnam and the UAE has developed rapidly and strongly. The UAE is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and Africa (the 13th largest export market in the world). There is still much potential for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
In 2006, Vietnam's export turnover to the UAE was only 140 million USD, but by 2024 it had reached 5.62 billion USD. Total two-way trade turnover in 2024 reached 6.5 billion USD, a sharp increase of 38% compared to 2023. Vietnam's trade surplus reached over 4.8 billion USD in 2024.
In the first 7 months of 2025 alone, Vietnam's exports to the UAE reached nearly 3.4 billion VND, a slight increase of 0.27% over the same period last year. The trade surplus in the first 7 months of 2025 reached over 3 billion USD.
In order for Vietnamese goods, including Tay Ninh goods, to be exported to the UAE, Mr. Truong Xuan Trung - in charge of Trade Office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reminded businesses that: "The UAE is a Muslim market, therefore, food and beverage products exported to the UAE must have a Halal certificate; food products must have a medical inspection certificate and a product inspection certificate of plant origin. Exported products must ensure food hygiene and safety; the ratio of chemicals and pesticides must not exceed the permitted level; if the content of those substances exceeds, they will not be imported into the UAE. Therefore, when a product has chemical residue exceeding the prescribed level, the entire customs system will check each shipment upon import."
Major markets such as Japan, the US, South Korea, UAE, etc. are open, rich in potential but always have fierce competition. This requires local businesses to change their perception, focus on product quality, build Vietnamese brands and business reputation./.
