After many days of heavy rains and overflowing Ke Go Lake, many areas in the downstream areas such as Cam Due, Cam Thanh, Ha Huy Tap, etc. were deeply flooded. Up to now, floodwaters have basically receded in many areas. Along with overcoming the damage, localities are coordinating with the health sector to urgently deploy environmental sanitation, disinfection, and proactively prevent and control epidemics.

Forces organize environmental sanitation in schools and offices as soon as flood waters recede.

In Cam Due commune, when the water receded in an area, medical staff, youth union members, armed forces and local people quickly joined in to clean up, collect garbage, animal carcasses and mud. During the recent flood, Cam Due commune had 1 medical station, 7 schools, 2,658 households, 250 wells and 870 sanitation facilities flooded.

Doctor Doan Xuan Phong - Head of Cam My Medical Station (Cam Due Commune) said: "Immediately after the water receded, the unit quickly deployed environmental sanitation and water source sanitation for the people. Up to now, the disinfection at Cam Due Kindergarten has been completed to ensure the children's learning. For flooded households, the station has distributed Cloramin B chemicals to the village medical team to provide to each household, instructing people on water sanitation and disinfection. If anyone continues to have a need for disinfectant chemicals, please contact the unit for additional distribution to ensure thorough disinfection."

Localities prepare enough chemicals for disinfection spraying.

According to Dr. Tran Huu Loc - Head of Cam Thach Health Station (Cam Due Commune), the station quickly organized disinfection spraying and water sanitation for families. Currently, more than 100 households are still flooded so sanitation work cannot be carried out. For schools and village cultural houses, when the water receded, the station coordinated with other forces to quickly deploy chemical spraying and provide instructions on collecting and treating waste according to regulations.

In Cam Binh commune, the floods have flooded 3 medical stations, 5 schools, more than 1,400 households, 205 wells and 180 sanitation facilities. If not handled promptly, the risk of disease outbreaks after the floods is very high. Therefore, immediately after the floodwaters began to recede, the local Party Committee, authorities and health sector quickly took action to carry out environmental sanitation work, focusing on disinfection and cleaning of water sources according to the motto "where the water recedes, the environment is cleaned".

About 50% of flooded households have completed environmental sanitation after the flood. Regarding schools, up to now, Cam Thanh Kindergarten has completed sanitation work and is currently focusing on cleaning and disinfecting at primary schools to soon stabilize classrooms for children's learning."

It is known that in recent days, the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control has quickly sent working groups to flooded areas to guide environmental sanitation, disinfection and monitor disease risks.

In addition to the amount of chemicals that were distributed to medical centers at the beginning of the flood season, during the recent flood, the center also provided an additional 140kg to Cam Xuyen Medical Center to distribute to communes to spray disinfectants in high-risk areas, especially where domestic water sources are contaminated.

Strengthen communication and propaganda work for people to practice personal hygiene, eat cooked food and drink boiled water, not use untreated water sources, and mobilize people to participate in cleaning village roads and alleys, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
