Hoa Thinh proactively responds to storm Kalmaegi, ensuring people's safety

Faced with the complicated developments of storm Kalmaegi that is likely to affect the eastern region of Dak Lak province, Hoa Thinh commune has urgently and synchronously deployed many response measures to minimize damage caused by storms and rains.

The locality provided round buoys to Canh Tinh village to be proactive in rescue work during floods and storms.

From early morning, militia forces, organizations and people in the commune took action to trim trees, brace houses, clear sewers, and ensure smooth water flow.

The commune's functional forces have issued an urgent notice to the people, especially the areas along the Ben Lai River and downstream of the Da Den Hydropower Plant - places at high risk of flooding when heavy rain lasts for a long time.

Canh Tinh village leaders informed people to proactively evacuate due to the impact of storm Kalmaegi.

Implementing the "4 on-site" motto (on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means, on-site logistics), the Commune Civil Defense Command has distributed rescue equipment to 17 villages, including 167 round buoys, 97 life jackets and mobilized 6 boats from each village to serve rescue work.

In addition, temporary evacuation points such as village cultural houses, schools... are inspected, reinforced, and ready to receive people when they need to be evacuated.

People proactively put their belongings up high to avoid damage when floods come.

In Canh Tinh village, one of the low-lying areas of the commune, people have proactively moved their property and livestock to higher ground.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem (born in 1966) shared: “I have raised the furniture in the house to avoid flooding. My house is degraded, so if there is heavy rain or strong winds, my son and I will go to the village cultural house to take temporary shelter for safety.”

According to records, in the morning of the same day, the inspection of roads, spillways, and areas at risk of landslides was carried out seriously. Mr. Le Chi Hoai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Thinh Commune, said: "We have requested the villages, especially My Canh and Canh Tinh, to arrange forces on duty 24/7 at points at risk of deep flooding and isolation; absolutely do not let people cross dangerous roads and spillways. At the same time, the police force, militia, and union members and youth were mobilized to support people in strengthening their houses and protecting their property."

With a proactive and urgent spirit, Hoa Thinh commune is making efforts to carry out storm prevention and control work well, demonstrating the high sense of responsibility of the local government in protecting people's lives and property. Response work continues to be closely deployed, ready to promptly handle any situation that may arise, not to be passive or surprised when the storm makes landfall.
