With storm No. 13 expected to make landfall with very strong winds, people in the central provinces are racing against time, hurriedly securing their houses.
According to the Department of Hydrometeorology, on the morning of November 5, storm No. 13 (international name Kalmaegi) crossed the northern area of Palawan Island of the Philippines and entered the eastern sea of the central area of the East Sea, becoming storm No. 13, intensity level 13, gust level 16. From the evening of November 6, on the mainland coast from South Quang Tri to Da Nang City, the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, the wind gradually increased to level 6-7, then increased to level 8-9, the area near the center of the storm passed through strong level 10-12 (focusing on the eastern part of Quang Ngai - Dak Lak provinces), gust level 14-15. The strongest wind time was from the evening of November 6 to the morning of November 7. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Ly Son special zone (Quang Ngai province) is one of the first and strongest areas affected by storm No. 13. Storm No. 13's winds in Ly Son special zone can reach level 12, even higher, and gust to level 14-15. Since this morning (November 5), hundreds of officers and soldiers of the border guard force stationed in the Ly Son special zone have been present at people's homes on the island to help reinforce houses before storm No. 13 makes landfall. The work of shoring up houses to help people in Ly Son special economic zone is being urgently implemented. The Ly Son Special Zone authorities are urgently inspecting and reinforcing houses, offices, schools, medical stations, power and communication systems, and pruning trees. They are fully preparing vehicles, supplies, food, and medicine for rescue operations when situations arise. In Da Nang , before storm No. 13 made landfall, the Ky Ha Port Border Guard Station deployed officers and soldiers to support the reinforcement of houses and trimming of trees at Binh Minh Kindergarten, Tran Quoc Toan Primary School and households in Xuan Trung village, Nui Thanh commune. Border guards reinforced the school roof by putting water in plastic bags. La Êê Border Guard Station forces coordinated with the Women's Union of La Êê commune to help people harvest rice in Pa Lan and Po Oi villages (La Êê commune) to "escape" storm No. 13. Also this morning, Son Tra Border Guard Station helped fishermen bring their boats ashore to take shelter from the storm. Boats were lifted ashore to safe shelter.
