At the 26/3 Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Union, the movement to build a smoke-free office is maintained regularly and has brought about positive results. The unit currently has 15 staff, all of whom do not smoke. To achieve this result, the Youth Union has actively propagated the harmful effects of cigarettes and e-cigarettes in many diverse and rich forms. The Youth Union has organized the installation of "No smoking" signs in the office, meeting room, and reception room of the unit. At the Youth Union's activities, propaganda work on the harmful effects of cigarettes and e-cigarettes is regularly integrated.
Mr. Pham Huy Hoang, a member of the 26/3 Youth Union, shared: I personally do not smoke to protect myself as well as to show my responsibility to my colleagues at work, my family members and society. I also actively promote and encourage my relatives, friends and Youth Union members to quit smoking and build a healthier lifestyle.
The Provincial People's Committee's Agencies' Union was established on the basis of receiving the current status of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, affiliated union organizations and union members of the Provincial Agencies' Union. Currently, the whole bloc has 27 affiliated union organizations with more than 2,300 union members. In the past time, the affiliated union organizations have actively promoted and advised on the implementation of the "Smoke-free Office" model in their units.
Mr. Vi Tung Khanh, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Provincial People's Committee's Agencies, said: We identify that the Youth Union must be the pioneers in building the image of a civilized and friendly state administrative agency. The actions of the Youth Union will create changes in the awareness of cadres and civil servants in the same unit, thereby forming a green, clean, beautiful, smoke-free office environment. The Youth Union of the Agencies regularly directs and guides grassroots youth unions to strengthen propaganda about the harmful effects of cigarettes and e-cigarettes, encouraging Youth Union members to quit smoking and maintain a positive lifestyle. In addition, we also organize cultural and artistic exchange activities, physical education and sports to guide Youth Union members to healthy and beneficial activities, away from cigarettes.
At the Youth Union bases, the movement to build a "Smoke-free office" has been strongly implemented and has been enthusiastically responded to by the Youth Union members and concretized with practical actions. To raise awareness among the Youth Union members about the harmful effects of tobacco, the affiliated Youth Union bases have promoted integrated propaganda through regular meetings, thematic activities, discussions, and competitions... The Youth Union bases also regularly post propaganda content on zalo groups and Facebook social networks to spread the message of preventing tobacco and electronic cigarettes. Not stopping at propaganda, many Youth Union branches have proactively advised unit leaders to put up "No smoking" signs in corridors, meeting rooms, offices, and citizen reception areas. In parallel, the Youth Union organizations also carry out activities to clean the campus of agencies and units, plant trees in the office to create a clean, friendly space, contributing to reminding cadres, civil servants, and Youth Union members to raise their sense of responsibility in maintaining a clean, smoke-free working environment.
From 2024 to present, the Youth Unions of the Provincial People's Committee's Agencies have organized nearly 100 legal propaganda activities, integrating the content of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco into the activities of the Youth Union; 27/27 Youth Unions have deployed and maintained the "Smoke-free Office" model. Through these activities, the awareness of the Youth Union members has changed positively, and the smoke-free office environment has gradually become a cultural feature in agencies and units. In the coming time, this movement will continue to be maintained and strongly communicated to raise awareness among cadres, civil servants, and Youth Union members about the harmful effects of tobacco and the significance of building a smoke-free office environment.
