This area is renowned for its traditional aquaculture and ecotourism linked to its natural landscape. It boasts the national historical site of Nha Lon (Big House) – a distinctive structure reflecting the cultural and religious life of the local people, creating a focal point for the development of spiritual tourism. Notably, Long Son is currently home to the Long Son Petrochemical Complex, one of the nation's key industrial projects, opening up opportunities to boost supporting industries, logistics, and services.

In recent years, Long Son has been positioned as a new growth hub thanks to its strategic location connecting to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, National Highway 51, and the Cai Mep - Thi Vai international seaport system, making a significant contribution to Ho Chi Minh City's strategy for sustainable marine economic development, urban industrial development, and tourism.
