Bach Mai Hospital cooperates with FPT Group to build a smart hospital

On the evening of November 4, Bach Mai Hospital andFPT Corporation announced a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on digital transformation and application of science and technology, especially AI, in medical examination and treatment, hospital management and human resource development.

The event marks an important step forward in the roadmap to modernize Vietnam's healthcare system, aiming to improve the quality of patient services, optimize management and operation work and contribute to the implementation of the goals of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution 72-NQ/TW on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co - Director of Bach Mai Hospital shared his wish that the hospital will become a smart hospital, in which AI and digital technology are applied not only in diagnosis, treatment, and hospital management, but also towards comprehensive automation. In addition, the Hospital aims to connect national health data, build digital health records for all people, create a foundation for research and improve the quality of health care.

“With a standardized Big Data warehouse, Vietnam will have the conditions to promote research and publish major scientific works. We believe that with FPT's technological capacity and digital transformation experience, the two sides will work closely together to realize the goals,” the Director of Bach Mai Hospital emphasized.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation emphasized that the medical industry is a field that contains core elements for the development of technology. Artificial intelligence today has developed remarkably thanks to large language models (LLM) - built on the foundation of human language and knowledge. FPT wishes to accompany Bach Mai Hospital in the journey of mastering technology, building a smart hospital model, and developing AI platforms to serve Vietnamese healthcare.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate comprehensively, focusing on four key areas, from comprehensive digital transformation, technology application in medical care and treatment, to health care and medical human resource development.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa - General Director of FPT Corporation, affirmed that the Corporation is committed to devoting all its strength, intelligence and heart to implementing this cooperation with Bach Mai Hospital. This cooperation will open a new path for the application of technology in healthcare, contributing to better serving the people and the country. FPT is committed to transforming cooperation orientations into specific actions, helping to reduce the workload for medical staff and at the same time improve the effectiveness of people's healthcare."

Bach Mai is a special general hospital, the last line in the North, receiving 8,000-10,000 patients per day. Every year, the hospital receives and treats nearly 2.6 million outpatients and 250,000 inpatients.

Associate Professor Dao Xuan Co said that since the implementation of the smart hospital, the hospital has saved a lot of money. Previously, the hospital used 60-100kg of paper and several hundred kilograms of film printing paper each month. Over time, the digital technology conversion has helped the hospital save hundreds of billions of dollars in printing film. The process of applying digitalization at the hospital brings profit to the hospital and convenience to patients, saving a lot of money.

“Bach Mai hopes to not only be a smart hospital, but the cooperation between the two sides will also support it to become a center and school for training medical technology doctors and engineers,” Mr. Co emphasized.
