Xuan Son suffered a broken leg in the AFF Cup 2024 final in January this year. After about 10 months of treatment, he was recently able to play in a friendly match between Nam Dinh Club and PVF-CAND Youth. However, the fact that the Brazilian striker was called back to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik in November surprised many people.
Previously, according to the assessment of experts and doctors, Xuan Son could only compete in early 2026, including the match between the Vietnamese team and Malaysia in March. Nam Dinh Club also did not register Xuan Son in the competition list in the first leg of the V-League 2025-2026.

However, there is a reason for coach Kim Sang Sik to call Xuan Son back. It is very likely that the Korean strategist wants to directly assess Xuan Son's recovery, and will work with the medical team to assess the player's physical condition during the national team training session.
Thus, the possibility of Xuan Son playing in the upcoming match against Laos is not high. However, his return to the team will certainly bring a positive atmosphere.
According to plan, after round 11 of V-League, the Vietnamese team will gather from November 10 to 19 to prepare for the second leg against Laos, within the framework of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
In this training session, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will travel to Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ) to practice from November 11 to November 14. On November 15, the Vietnamese team will travel to Laos. The match against Laos will be the last match of the "Golden Star Warriors" in 2025.
Meanwhile, U22 Vietnam has two consecutive training sessions. From November 10 to November 19, the team will participate in the international friendly tournament Panda Cup 2025 in China, with the participation of quality teams including U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 Korea. In this training session, U22 Vietnam is expected to call up about 26 players.
Immediately after the tournament in China, U22 Vietnam will start a new training session from November 23 in Vung Tau. Khuat Van Khang and his teammates are expected to leave for Thailand on December 2 to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
In the group stage of men's football at the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Vietnam will meet U22 Laos (December 5) and U22 Malaysia (December 11) at the 700th Anniversary Stadium, Chiangmai. If they reach the semi-finals, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will travel to Bangkok to compete.
