With a series of beautiful beaches, a chain of luxury resorts and an ever-expanding flight network, Phu Quoc has become one of the most sought-after destinations for 2026.

CNBC (USA) news channel cited the Unpack' 26 - The Trends in Travel report of Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, according to which, Phu Quoc ranked 4th in the list of 10 most popular destinations globally in 2026.

The report was based on flight and accommodation searches by 24,000 global travelers on the Expedia platform over the past year. Notably, Phu Quoc recorded a 53% increase in search interest - an impressive figure that affirms its global appeal. It is also the only representative of Southeast Asia to appear in the rankings.

Topping the list is Big Sky (Montana, USA) with a 92% increase, Okinawa (Japan) ranked second with a 71% increase, followed by Sardinia (Italy) with 53%. In addition, the top 10 also includes other famous landmarks such as Savoie (France), Fort Walton Beach (Florida, USA), Ucluelet (Canada), Cotswolds (UK), San Miguel de Allende (Mexico) and Hobart (Australia).

Introducing Phu Quoc, Expedia experts write: "With idyllic fishing villages, white-sand beaches and a lush national park covering nearly half of its area, this Vietnamese island is an ideal destination for a truly relaxing holiday. From vibrant towns to luxurious beach resorts, Phu Quoc offers a myriad of options for travelers to start their journey of discovery ."

The Unpack '26: The Trends in Travel report also points out new travel trends such as hotel hop (changing hotels) with 54% of travelers tending to book multiple hotels in the same destination to make the most of their trip, especially popular among Gen Z and Millennials.

Additionally, more and more people are choosing slow travel - guests prioritize booking accommodations near farms, choosing hiking, experiences related to local life; movie-based travel - 81% of Gen Z and Millennials travelers plan their trips based on what they see in movies.
