
The Photo Hanoi '25 International Photography Biennale is an event organized by the Hanoi People's Committee and the French Embassy in Vietnam; chaired by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and the French Institute in Vietnam, with the support of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi and a network of domestic and foreign partners. The event aims to honor photography as a universal language of humanity, and at the same time a powerful way to contemplate, feel and connect.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Bach Lien Huong said that the Photo Hanoi '25 - International Photography Biennale event is a good opportunity for the public, photography lovers, especially young people, to experience and practice photography, to approach new and attractive perspectives on contemporary photography in Vietnam and internationally; contributing to introducing and promoting the image of the country and people of the Capital through the perspective of photography, creating a large, lively and deeply impressive international photography art and culture festival space in the Capital.
“Hanoi City always attaches importance to promoting cultural exchange activities between Hanoi and the French Republic in particular and other countries and international organizations that are partners in this project. We are committed to continuing to strengthen close cooperation with you to research, develop and implement new cooperation projects and linkage programs between Hanoi and creative cities, thereby actively contributing to promoting exchange relations as well as strengthening solidarity and friendship between the Government and people of Vietnam and countries in the region and the world ,” Director Bach Lien Huong emphasized.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, UNESCO Representative in Vietnam Jonathan Wallace Baker said that Photo Hanoi '25 reflects Hanoi's vision as a UNESCO Creative City, where creativity is not confined to institutions, but is lived, experienced and spread throughout urban life. This event demonstrates the values that can be created when artists, communities, governments and international partners join hands to build a vibrant, open and inclusive cultural space.

Photo Hanoi '25 is larger in scale and scope with many rich and attractive activities taking place from November 1 to 30, attracting the participation of more than 170 artists, photographers, curators and experts from 21 countries, along with 25 professional organizations. Within the framework of the event, there are 22 exhibitions and 29 sideline activities such as talks, book launches, film screenings, art tours and photography practice experiences taking place at 20 cultural spaces in the capital.
In particular, the series of workshops, seminars, art tours and portfolio reviews (professional photography consulting sessions) bring practical value, especially to young photographers in their journey to build their career, affirm their name and gradually reach out to regional and international markets.

Photo Hanoi '25 is also a colorful visual feast for the general public and Vietnamese and international tourists through exhibitions ranging from historical memories, urban landscapes, to global issues such as climate change, the relationship between humans and nature... Exhibitions are held at the exhibition halls at 45 Trang Tien, 93 Dinh Tien Hoang, the Cultural and Art Center at 22 Hang Buom, 2 Le Thai To, 49 Tran Hung Dao, the French Institute of Vietnam, Japan Foundation, Casa Italia, Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA), Complex 01, Long Bien Art Space, Matca, S+ Six Senses Space, Chau & Co gallery... and public spaces such as Dien Hong flower garden, the space around Hoan Kiem Lake, the wall of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic site, or the facade of the French Embassy...

On this occasion, the exhibition “Reminiscences of Cities” was held at the 22 Hang Buom Cultural and Art Center. The exhibition brought together 30 talented Vietnamese and international photographers and visual artists. Inspired by the notion that each city is a living, ever-changing entity, the works delve into how collective memories are formed and built over time. The exhibition runs until November 30.
