“Heritage Convergence”: Spreading Traditional Values ​​in the Creative Flow of Thang Long – Hanoi

On October 1, in Hanoi, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature in collaboration with other units organized the opening ceremony of the "Heritage Convergence" program. This is the opening event for the series of activities of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025.

The "Heritage Convergence" program is an opportunity to honor traditional crafts and craft villages, and at the same time, it is a place to honor artisans, skilled workers, and workers who have persistently preserved and revived traditional cultural values ​​in modern times. Not stopping there, the program also opens up a space to inspire the younger generation, those who have the aspiration to inherit, innovate and develop traditional crafts with creative thinking, technology and international integration. Through performance, exchange and experience activities, the program contributes to arousing love for the profession, attracting qualified young people, creating a new driving force for the creative economic value chain from heritage.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Le Thi Anh Mai said: Hanoi - the land of a thousand years of civilization, is not only a political and economic center, but also a cradle of convergence and dissemination of the quintessence of national culture. Through many historical ups and downs, Thang Long - Hanoi has always been a place connecting heritage values, where the quintessence of traditional crafts is preserved, nurtured and shines through the years. And the program "Heritage Convergence" is a vivid proof of that spirit.

The theme "Heritage Convergence" was chosen not only to connect the three ancient capitals of Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh) - Thang Long (Hanoi) and Phu Xuan (Hue) but also to be a convergence of cultural regions across the country, from the lowlands to the highlands, from the fertile Red River Delta to the majestic Central Highlands, but also to demonstrate the vision and aspiration of the Capital in building Hanoi into a creative center of the region and the world, where traditional heritage harmonizes with the breath of the times, creating a unique identity of a Capital that converges and spreads Vietnamese cultural values.

According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, from the sacred space of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, a thousand-year heritage of learning and talent, the "Heritage Convergence" program will contribute to turning heritage into a living resource, connecting the past with the present, tradition with modernity, culture with creative development. This is also the way Hanoi affirms its commitment to preserving heritage alongside development, so that each traditional value is not only preserved in memory, but also "lived" in contemporary life - close, attractive and widespread.

"I respectfully acknowledge and appreciate the meticulous and thoughtful preparation of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam as the assigned organizer, along with the active coordination of departments, branches, localities, craft villages, artisans and creators who have joined hands to build a cultural space imbued with traditional spirit, harmoniously combining exhibitions, performances, and guidance on experiencing handicrafts with contemporary creative spaces. Thereby, creating a "living museum" right in the heart of the relic - where heritage is "touched", "heard", "seen" and "felt" with all senses" - said Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai.

The "Heritage Convergence" program takes place from November 1 to 9 at Thai Hoc building with experiential activities and promotion of typical products from typical traditional craft villages such as Hanoi - Hue - Ninh Binh - Central Highlands.

Coming to the program, visitors will experience and explore Bat Trang pottery, Ha Thai lacquerware, Chuong village hats, Thuong Tin embroidery, ethnic cakes (Hanoi); lotus leaf hats, sedge crafts, sesame candy, Hue cakes (Hue); Kim Son sedge, Ninh Hai embroidery, burnt rice (Ninh Binh); Buon Le brocade weaving - Dak Lak, brocade weaving at Chu Mom Ray National Park, Zeng brocade weaving in A Luoi, E De coffee, Ngoc Linh ginseng (Central Highlands).

In particular, during the 16 days of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival, in the Van Lake area of ​​the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, there is a space to introduce Hanoi cuisine with the theme "Flavor of Hanoi". Visitors can experience the culinary quintessence, from traditional feasts to rustic dishes: Uoc Le sausage, hand-rolled rice rolls, vermicelli with grilled pork, green sticky rice, bread, Vietnamese sweet soup...

"Festival Thang Long - Hanoi 2025" with the theme "Heritage - Connection - Era", is identified as an annual activity of the Capital. The program will take place for 16 days (from November 1 to November 16) at many locations such as: Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Ngoc Son Temple...

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the closing ceremony on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square. The event is directed by the Hanoi People's Committee, coordinated by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and many other units.
