Within the framework of the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival, from November 1 to 16, at the special national relic of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, a series of cultural activities will take place to promote heritage, craft villages and many rich experiential activities, contributing to honoring the heritage values of Thang Long - Hanoi and spreading the spirit of creativity in the community.
The “Heritage Convergence” event is one of the opening activities, taking place from November 1 at Thai Hoc yard of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam. The space to introduce and promote typical products of typical craft villages from Hanoi, Hue, Ninh Binh and the Central Highlands helps the public discover the quintessence of traditional Vietnamese crafts through the talented hands of artisans. At Thai Hoc yard, the image of craft village workers is vividly recreated, creating a space connecting the past and the present.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Le Thi Anh Mai said: Hanoi - the land of a thousand years of civilization - is not only a political and economic center but also a cradle of convergence and dissemination of the quintessence of national culture. Through many historical ups and downs, Thang Long - Hanoi has always been a place connecting heritage values, where the quintessence of traditional crafts is preserved, nurtured and shines through the years. The program "Heritage Convergence" is a vivid proof of that spirit.
According to Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, the chosen theme of “Heritage Convergence” not only has the meaning of connecting the three ancient capitals of Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh) – Thang Long (Hanoi) and Phu Xuan (Hue) but also is a convergence of cultural regions across the country – from the lowlands to the highlands, from the fertile Red River Delta to the majestic Central Highlands. The event also demonstrates the vision and aspiration of the Capital in building Hanoi into a creative center of the region and the world – where traditional heritage blends with the breath of the times, creating a unique identity of a Capital that converges and spreads Vietnamese cultural values.

“Heritage Convergence” is an occasion to honor traditional crafts and craft villages, and at the same time, it is a place to honor artisans, skilled workers, and workers who have persistently preserved and revived traditional cultural values in modern times. Not stopping there, the program also opens up a space to inspire the younger generation - those who have the desire to inherit, innovate and develop traditional crafts with creative thinking, technology and international integration. Through performance, exchange and experience activities, the program contributes to arousing love for the profession, attracting qualified young people, creating a new driving force for the creative economic value chain from heritage.
Coming to the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam at this time, visitors will experience and explore Bat Trang pottery, Ha Thai lacquerware, Chuong village hats, Thuong Tin embroidery, ethnic cakes (Hanoi); lotus leaf hats, sedge crafts, sesame candy, Hue cakes (Hue); Kim Son sedge, Ninh Hai embroidery, burnt rice (Ninh Binh); Buon Le brocade weaving - Dak Lak, brocade weaving at Chu Mom Ray National Park, Zeng brocade weaving in A Luoi, E De coffee, Ngoc Linh ginseng (Central Highlands)...

Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam Le Xuan Kieu shared that the program "Heritage Convergence" not only introduces and promotes the quintessence of Hanoi's craft villages but also connects with craft villages across the country, while spreading the cultural values and awareness of preserving the heritage of the Vietnamese ethnic community to domestic and foreign tourists.
Thang Long – Hanoi Festival is held at the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, the cultural and educational center of the Capital, a symbol of the tradition of “respecting teachers and valuing education”.
