Nearly 400 athletes compete at the 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament in 2025

On the afternoon of November 3, in Hanoi, a press conference was held for the 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament in 2025.

The 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament in 2025 is a sports event of Hanoi city to celebrate major holidays of the year. In addition, the Tournament also aims to create a playground for professional and amateur players, and at the same time promote the movement of table tennis practice in the capital as well as provinces and cities across the country.

Overview of the press conference

Established in 2012, by 2013, the Tournament became an official annual tournament organized by Hanoi Moi Newspaper. This year's Tournament took place at Cau Giay Stadium ( Hanoi ) from November 7 to 9, 2025 with the participation of nearly 400 professional and amateur tennis players from 80 units in the following provinces and cities: Vinh Long, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Da Nang, Nghe An, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong... The special thing about this year's tournament is that the number of units participating in the amateur men's team event increased by dozens of teams compared to the previous season.

This year, national players such as Nguyen Duc Tuan, Dinh Anh Hoang, Le Dinh Duc, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh... all registered to compete. However, because the whole team had a long training schedule in China to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games (December 2025), they were unable to participate.

However, the tournament still had the participation of former national players such as: Vu Thi Noel En, Nguyen Bich Ngoc, Nguyen Thi Mai, Nguyen Tuan Quynh, Vu Quang Hien; and the leading Vietnamese table tennis athletes today such as: Nguyen Dang Hiep, Bui The Nghia, Vu Manh Huy, Nguyen Nhu Phong, Tran Manh Cuong, Nguyen Hoang Lam, Ta Hong Khanh, Le Van Duc, Lam Thu Cuc, Hoang Tra My, Tran Dieu Linh, Vu Hoai Thanh... Besides, units such as Hanoi, T&T People's Police, Army, Hai Phong ... all sent youth teams to compete.

Organizing Committee representative answers reporters' questions

Athletes will compete in 12 events including: Men's singles with leadership; Men's team in advanced category; Men's team in amateur category; Men's singles in advanced category; Men's singles in amateur category under 45 years old; Women's singles from 45 years old and above; Women's singles under 45 years old; Men's doubles with leadership; Men's doubles in amateur category from 45 years old and above; Mixed doubles over 45 years old; Mixed doubles under 45 years old; Women's doubles over 45 years old.

To ensure the progress of the tournament, the Organizing Committee stipulates that each athlete can only register for a maximum of 02 competitions. The tournament applies the Table Tennis Competition Law issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament in 2025 uses a DoubleFish 235 green table and a mat that meets the standards for training and competition at professional table tennis tournaments of the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation.

The organizing committee will award trophies, flags, cash prizes, and medals to teams, pairs, and individuals who win first, second, and third prizes in each competition category. The total prize value is more than 160 million VND (10% increase compared to last season). This is also a new feature of this year's season to increase the attractiveness and attract athletes to participate in the tournament.
