Ho Chi Minh City men's volleyball is returning to the top

After many years of absence from the highest level of Vietnamese volleyball, the Ho Chi Minh City men's volleyball team has officially returned to the 2026 National Championship, after a journey full of efforts in the final round of the 2025 National A-Class Volleyball Tournament held in Ha Tinh.

The men's final on the evening of November 1 ended with a 3-1 victory for Ho Chi Minh City over the host team Ha Tinh . This was a result that made the stands of the Ha Tinh Provincial Sports Stadium explode with emotion, not only because the local team fought bravely, but also because of the admirable resilience of the away team.

Trailing 18-25 in the first set, the Ho Chi Minh City players remained steadfast. They gradually adjusted their tactics, increasing the pressure on their serve and block, thereby winning the next 3 sets in a row (25-15, 25-20, 25-21). The 3-1 victory not only helped Ho Chi Minh City win the championship but also ended their emotional promotion journey.

"We don't have big stars, but we make up for it with a spirit of solidarity and a desire to return to the top. After many years of rebuilding our team, this is a worthy reward for the whole team," said the team after the match.

The team's head coach, Mr. Huynh Van Tuan, also expressed satisfaction with his players' performance. Mr. Tuan said: "I hope that the team will have a sponsor so that the players can have more income and this will be the motivation for them to strive even harder."

The Ho Chi Minh City men's volleyball team used to be a force in Vietnamese volleyball, but in recent years, personnel and financial changes forced the team to leave the professional playing field. Having to compete in the A-class tournament is not only a challenge but also an opportunity to "start over" in the true sense.

Entering the 2025 A-class finals, Ho Chi Minh City was in the same group with strong opponents such as Ha Tinh, Vinh Long, VLXD Binh Duong ... But they started impressively, winning the group stage, then beating Da Nang 3-0 in the quarter-finals, continuing to defeat Vinh Long 3-1 in the semi-finals to qualify for the final.

Each victory is a step forward in the spirit, from coordination, defense, to the finishing ability of the main attackers. In particular, the cohesive and even playing style between the lines is the foundation to help Ho Chi Minh City return to the top.

Success in Ha Tinh is not only a ticket to promotion, but also a great spiritual boost for Ho Chi Minh City sports in general and volleyball in particular. In the context of Ho Chi Minh City men's volleyball having been quiet for many years, the team's return to the National Championship in 2026 opens up hope for the revival of a once-famous brand.

From youth to district and county level, Ho Chi Minh City volleyball is showing signs of being vibrant again. The promotion of the men's team will be a "fulcrum" to rekindle passion, create motivation for training, and attract attention from businesses and fans.

In the 2026 National Championship, the challenge is much greater, but the recent journey shows that the Ho Chi Minh City team is ready. They have youth, ambition and above all, an indomitable fighting spirit.

The victory in Ha Tinh not only has sporting significance, but also demonstrates the spirit of "rising from failure", true to the nature of top sports.

After the final whistle, the Ho Chi Minh City players hugged each other in the middle of the field, tears falling not only because of the joy of victory, but also because of the long road ahead. Their return, though late, was still full of pride.
