The exhibition is part of the Photo Hanoi '25 International Photography Biennale, and is supported by the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helvetia.

The exhibition is one of the ideas born after Le Nguyen Duy Phuong's research trip on photography curation in Switzerland. This is an interesting meeting between 3 Swiss artists: Beat Streuli, Alfio Tommasini, Matthieu Gafsou and 3 Vietnamese artists: Le Nguyen Duy Phuong, Tran Vinh Dat, Bach Nam Hai.
Traveling through many cities with different environments and cultures has given the photographers in this exhibition contrasting senses.

By combining photography with video, stillness with movement, “Time and Cities” explores the relationship between space and time from multiple perspectives. These contrasting elements, when juxtaposed, reveal that the basic law of life – being born, growing up, working and dying – remains consistent, regardless of geographical boundaries. Time, in this story, finds its reference point in humanity, a constant defined by the temporality of life.

Photography thus transcends the role of observation, becoming a bridge for each person to actively participate in and appreciate the beauty, transience, and connection of time with the cities we call home. Each photograph transcends the function of recording, becoming a contemplation of the human position in the urban flow.
The photographs by six photographers are arranged to make viewers reflect on each person's connection to time, space and themselves.

Mr. Aldo de Luca, Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland, emphasized that through this exhibition, the Swiss Embassy wishes to contribute to promoting dialogue between Vietnamese and Swiss artists, and at the same time introduce to the Vietnamese public new perspectives on urban areas and people in contemporary times. The event also creates a meaningful photography playground.
The exhibition runs until November 22.
