The journey of a female student with a passion for music who won a full scholarship to Europe

SVO - Nguyen Khanh Chi is currently a fourth-year student majoring in Foreign Economics at the Foreign Trade University. She has won a prestigious exchange scholarship to Heinrich Heine University (Germany) and many other scholarships throughout her years of study. In addition to her outstanding academic achievements, the female student also nurtures a burning passion for music and has won many major awards in music competitions and programs.

Carrying a family tradition of being attached to the medical profession, a 'heritage' that is both proud and an invisible pressure, the female student once faced an important crossroads when choosing her university path. Instead of following the predetermined path, she decided to 'change the direction' to a new journey, choosing a challenging economic environment to assert herself at the Foreign Trade University.

The female student said that this decision is not a giving up, but a testament to a multi-talented spirit that does not accept limits. Although entering a new field, Khanh Chi still nurtures and devotes all her enthusiasm to the passion called singing.

“Not only am I discovering a new major, I am discovering myself - a young person who dares to dream, dares to act, and is ready to set sail following the call of passion. I choose to live so as not to regret the things I have never done, in line with the spirit of openness and desire to explore that Mark Twain once wrote: Twenty years from now you will regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did. So, let loose the ropes, set sail from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails: Explore - Dream - Explore”, Khanh Chi expressed.

Right from the first days of university, she set a goal for herself to maintain excellent academic performance but not to be associated with the image of a 'bookworm'. Therefore, Chi proactively sought out artistic playgrounds such as music clubs, competitions or participated in organizing art programs to develop her own abilities.

The female student shared: “After entering university, I was still determined to nurture my passion for music, even though I failed all the clubs and doubted my own abilities many times. Luckily, with encouragement from everyone, I gradually regained my confidence, courage and persistently pursued this passion to the end through competitions and art programs.”

However, the first days of university were a big challenge for the female student as she had to balance between studying, working and time for her passion for music. However, that busy life became the motivation for her to nurture her passion for art, and at the same time continue her journey to conquer knowledge.

Khanh Chi has won the A-Scholarship, VPBank Prosperity Scholarship and has been honored as an outstanding student for many consecutive years. In addition, she is also the Champion of major competitions such as Business Plan 2023, Med-technology Challenge, UpYouth Hackathon 2023, English Champion 2024. Along with her academic achievements, she has also affirmed her mark in many artistic playgrounds such as the Revolutionary Song Propaganda Contest 2024, Youth Melody 2024...

Notably, the female student recently won a prestigious scholarship to participate in an exchange program at Heinrich Heine University (Germany). Looking back on her European journey, the female student emotionally shared: “I returned not only with another degree, but also with a new vision: knowledge needs to be breathed into life and art needs to have depth.”

During her time studying abroad, the female student even made an effort to spread Vietnamese music to international friends when participating in an art competition in Frankfurt (Germany) and excellently won the grand prize. She shared: “When I sang, I received a lot of support and praise from the audience. Thanks to that, I made many new friends, some of whom later flew to Vietnam to visit me.”

After the exchange trip, Khanh Chi continued to actively participate in singing activities about the country's history and culture, with the desire to become a bridge between young people and traditional values. As Vice President of the Foreign Economic Student Association, she participated in organizing many international exchange programs, contributing to spreading the image of dynamic and colorful young Vietnamese people.

The female student affirmed: “As a student, I study. As an artist, I feel. As a young person, I act. The 'multi-tasking' image that I aim for is a harmonious combination of academics, art, leadership and inspiration.”

The female student wants to send a word of encouragement to young people: Don't confine yourself to other people's expectations. You don't have to choose a path, instead choose the person you want to become. And every day, live true to that!
