Why are top Korean music companies coming to Vietnam?

In the context of Vietnam becoming the center of the global music economy, the Korea-Vietnam Content Forum 2025 took place on the afternoon of October 30 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea (MCST) and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).

The forum brings together entertainment strategists, businesses and experts from the two countries. It is considered a strategic bridge between Korea’s global entertainment capabilities and Vietnam’s growing music market.

A representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea (MCST) shared about the significance of the event: "Korea Spotlight is the Ministry's effort to promote meaningful global partnerships. Vietnam, with its rapidly growing creative industry and special affection for Korean culture, is the perfect destination for this journey.

By organizing Korea Spotlight 2025 in Vietnam, we hope to honor the friendship between the two countries and bring Vietnamese audiences rich experiences of Korean music."

Over the years, Vietnamese music has grown exponentially while K-pop continues to spread globally. Both markets are driven by digital transformation and a dynamic young audience. According to Statista’s 2024 survey, K-pop remains one of the most popular music genres in Vietnam. Entertainment companies from both countries are promoting co-productions, artist exchanges and expanding business opportunities.

Korea-Vietnam Content Forum 2025 becomes a platform to promote cultural and commercial cooperation. 12 Korean entertainment companies and record labels at the forum include: Kakao Entertainment, Mystic Story, Antenna, BTOB Company, REGIME, Kreation Music Right, RND Company, Showplay, Bluedot Entertainment, Jellyfish Entertainment, Leanbranding and January; along with more than 100 representatives in the Vietnamese and Korean music industry.

The Vietnamese music market is growing rapidly and enthusiastically.

Mr. Sung Im Kyoung, Director of KOCCA Vietnam, shared: "The fast-growing digital music market and passionate fan community make Vietnam an important partner in Korea's creative ecosystem.

Mr. Jeong Jae Min, Head of Music IP Cooperation Team of Kakao Entertainment, opened with the topic "K-pop Casting & Training: Turning global talents into super brands". The presentation shared about Korea's systematic artist training model - a "success formula" that can suggest a development direction for emerging markets like Vietnam.

Mr. Song Suh Ho, CEO of Kreation Music Right, talked about the topic "Made in Vietnam, Loved Worldwide", emphasizing the role of localization and transmission in helping Vietnamese music and artists conquer international audiences.

Korea-Vietnam Content Forum 2025 is a significant step forward in building a sustainable relationship between the two music industries, aiming for concrete cooperation in production, artist training and content distribution. This is not only a networking activity but also an effort to create a cooperative infrastructure for businesses of the two countries to jointly develop intellectual property (IP), co-produce creative content and expand to the international market.
