Nestled in the middle of a windy plateau, Ham Thuan Lake (in La Da commune, Lam Dong province) is one of the largest and most beautiful artificial lakes in the Southern Central Highlands.

With its emerald green water, winding hills and fresh air, this place is gradually becoming an attractive destination for tourists who love nature and exploration .

Peaceful natural picture

Previously, the area around Ham Thuan lake was home to the K'ho ethnic group. They lived in the valley, along the river banks. When the government decided to dam the river to build a hydroelectric power plant, the people here moved to a new place in the commune.

The source of Ham Thuan Lake originates from the La Nga River. The lake is about 2,500 hectares wide, with 8 small islands scattered on the surface of the water. The lake plays an extremely important role in regulating the climate and providing water for production and irrigation in the surrounding area. Therefore, this place is also known as a miniature "Ha Long Bay".

Ham Thuan Lake was formed after the construction of Ham Thuan-Da Mi Hydropower Plant, completed in the late 1990s. The lake covers an area of thousands of hectares, surrounded by mountains and green pine forests. In the early mornings, the lake surface is covered with a layer of magical mist, reflecting the gentle yellow sunlight, creating a poetic scene that makes anyone stop to admire.

From above, the lake looks like a green silk strip winding around low hillsides, interspersed with small islands bobbing in the middle of the water. In the distance are endless stretches of primeval forests, where the chirping of birds blends with the rustling of the wind through the foliage.

A meeting place for those who love to travel and explore

Not only is it attractive for its beautiful landscape, it also offers visitors a series of memorable experiences. You can kayak on the calm water, feel the cool water under the gentle sunlight of the plateau. Especially for photography enthusiasts, Ham Thuan Lake is a paradise with countless beautiful shooting angles, especially at dawn or when the sun gradually sets, the golden light covers the lake.

The journey of discovery will be more interesting if you choose to camp overnight by the lake, sip Lam Dong coffee in the mist and feel the peaceful rhythm of the mountains and forests at night. To add to the experience of being closer to the local culture, homestays and farmstays around the area also serve specialties such as grilled chicken with bamboo rice, grilled stream fish or wild vegetables with sesame salt - all with the typical flavors of the Central Highlands.

In recent years, the local government has focused on developing an eco-tourism model at Ham Thuan Lake, harmoniously combining with the conservation of the ecosystem here. The system of routes leading from National Highway 28B or from the center of Bao Loc and Di Linh cities to the lake is increasingly being improved, creating favorable conditions for domestic and international tourists to explore.

With a cool climate all year round, pristine beauty and unique cultural imprints, Ham Thuan Lake has great potential to become a prominent eco-tourism and resort destination in Lam Dong. This place promises to be a promising name alongside famous places such as Da Lat, Ta Dung or Tuyen Lam Lake.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, Ham Thuan Lake is like a rare peaceful place - where people can find tranquility, immerse themselves in nature and feel the breath of the plateau. No noise, no commercialization, the pristine beauty of the lake is what makes visitors remember forever when they set foot on this land./.
