The Ministry of Construction has just approved the detailed planning for the development of land and seaport areas of Ba Ria - Vung Tau (formerly) for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Notably, the planning of Vung Tau international passenger port with a modern scale, capable of receiving ships of up to 225,000 GT.
According to the approval decision, Vung Tau international passenger port is planned to include 1 port and 2 passenger wharves , with a total length of 840 m (excluding other wharves). When completed, the port will be able to receive the world's largest cruise ships and serve from 1.39 to 1.5 million passengers per year.

Previously, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) had held many meetings to discuss and listen to reports on the investment plan for the international passenger port, a project that was considered to be symbolic and of international class in the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau area. This is expected to be the largest passenger port in the Southern region , contributing to the elevation of sea and island tourism and creating momentum for the development of service and logistics economy .
According to the consultant's report, the construction site of the international passenger port is adjacent to the Bai Truoc cable car station complex (Vung Tau ward) . In addition to the main wharf area, the project also includes a system of auxiliary service works , commercial and entertainment areas and reception space, serving domestic and international tourists.
The consulting consortium presented 11 design options , with square and curved approach bridge models, creating a unique architectural highlight for the coastal space. The total estimated investment for each option ranges from 1,333 billion VND to more than 8,000 billion VND , depending on the scale and construction materials.
