Not yet having time to clean up after the historic flood, Hoi An ancient town (Hoi An ward, Da Nang city) was once again submerged in water on November 3, within just one week.
This second flood, caused by the hydroelectric plant's discharge, caused many roads along the Hoai River to be 1-2 meters deep, seriously affecting people's lives and businesses.

Major roads such as Bach Dang, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Nguyen Phuc Chu and Hoi An market area were all submerged in water.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, owner of a souvenir shop on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, could not hide her fatigue: “During the recent historic flood, my shop was flooded nearly 1.5 meters deep, and my belongings had not yet been washed clean of mud and now I have to run away from the flood again. My business has been severely affected, and cleaning up is very tiring and exhausting because of the long days of fighting the rain and floods.”
Mr. Tran Van Tien, the owner of a souvenir shop on Tran Phu Street, was also busy placing his belongings high. He said his family was always prepared to flee the flood, so he did not dare to start trading immediately after the water receded the day before.
“The water rose so quickly that no one dared to be complacent. As soon as they heard the flood warning, they raised their furniture. I hope the water recedes quickly so we can return to normal life. For the past week, business has been disrupted,” Mr. Tien shared.

While local people are struggling to cope with the floods, many domestic and foreign tourists are excited to witness the scene of the ancient town covered in water.
In some areas that have not yet been flooded, tourism activities are still going on as usual. Tourists stand along flooded roads, taking photos and videos to capture special moments of Hoi An in the midst of the flood season.
Ms. Aline, a French tourist, shared: “I heard the tour guide talk about the flooding situation in Hoi An in advance, but I was quite surprised when I witnessed it. This is the first time I saw this image in an old town, I took many photos and videos to share with friends and relatives.”

Hoi An Ward People's Committee is closely monitoring the water level of Thu Bon River and is advising people to proactively evacuate their property, ensure their safety, and be ready to respond if heavy rain continues.
According to the forecast of the Central Hydrometeorological Station, the water level on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon River is rising and fluctuating at levels below alert level 3 to above alert level 3. In the next 12 hours, widespread deep flooding will occur in low-lying areas along the river and in fields.
