The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board launched a competition movement to strive to complete the tasks of the metro line 2 construction project, with the goal of starting the project in 2025.

On November 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (investor) launched a 60-day and night peak emulation movement to strive to complete key tasks of the metro line 2 construction project (Ben Thanh-Tham Luong metro), with the goal of starting the project in 2025.
The emulation movement was launched from November 1 to December 31, 2025, aiming to strengthen the leadership of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Urban Railway Management Board to resolutely deploy and concentrate all resources, striving to complete the key tasks of metro project No. 2 in 2025, welcoming the 14th National Congress of the Party.
The key tasks of the emulation movement include completing adjustments to the metro line 2 construction project, organizing the selection of EPC contractors; project supervision and management consultants, and starting the construction of metro line 2.
Ben Thanh-Tham Luong Metro Line is over 11km long; of which the underground section is over 9km long, with 10 stations (9 underground stations, 1 elevated station).
The project has 8 main construction packages, of which package CP1 (construction of office building and auxiliary works at Tham Luong depot) has been completed and put into use. The remaining packages are being updated, reviewed and adjusted.
According to previous approval, the Ben Thanh-Tham Luong metro line No. 2 project has a total investment of 47,890 billion VND, most of which is ODA loans. During the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties and problems.
The project is currently being transferred to public investment from the city budget and additional scale (including the project to synchronously connect metro lines 1 and 2 at Ben Thanh Central Station).
Last September, the Urban Railway Management Board approved the results of the contractor selection for the consulting package to prepare the adjusted feasibility study report, FEED design and bidding of the project.
The winning bidder is the joint venture of Guangzhou Metro Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. - Southern Transport Design Consulting Joint Stock Company - Marine Technical Port Design Consulting Joint Stock Company - ARTELIA SAS./.
