Building a healthy cultural environment in production and business activities is a crucial and urgent task that Party committees of enterprises and banks are paying attention to in order to build sustainable development units. Implementing Conclusion No. 156-KL/TW dated May 21, 2025, of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Committee of the 11th Party Congress (June 2014) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, the Party continues to affirm and establish solutions to “build and develop Vietnamese culture and people to truly become the ‘foundation,’ ‘endogenous resource,’ and ‘driving force’ for rapid and sustainable national development in the new era.” The building and development of Vietnamese culture and people, as well as the development of corporate and workplace culture, has created, is creating, and will continue to create intrinsic strength in the process of sustainable development at the nation's large corporations, banks, and enterprises.
The BIDV Party Committee was one of the first units to proactively research, develop, and issue Resolution No. 636/NQLT-ĐU-HĐQT-TGĐ dated July 15, 2022, and Resolution No. 666/NQ-BIDV dated July 15, 2022, on the promulgation of the BIDV Culture Handbook, which stipulates 5 core values, 5 ethical standards, 9 codes of conduct, and 18 notes on communication and task performance, applicable to all BIDV employees. Accordingly, the 5 core values: “Intelligence – Trust – Integrity – Professionalism – Aspiration”, are the unique characteristics in BIDV's culture and character.
BIDV Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Phan Duc Tu, sent a message to all employees in the BIDV Culture Handbook: “BIDV culture is an invaluable asset; it is the driving force that helps BIDV continuously develop, a fundamental element that contributes to connecting and creating a combined strength for BIDV. BIDV culture is the baggage we will use to move together into the future.”
Corporate culture is the spiritual pillar, the glue that binds individuals together towards a common goal and joint action, and the intrinsic strength for sustainable business development. Recognizing the crucial role and importance of corporate culture, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of BIDV have strengthened leadership and guidance in building and standardizing BIDV's corporate culture to meet the requirements and tasks of BIDV in the new development phase. With the longest tradition in the Vietnamese banking and finance industry, BIDV's corporate culture has been built, nurtured, and clearly demonstrated through its development strategies and specific actions. BIDV is intelligent, resilient, and always strives to fulfill all assigned tasks. BIDV is responsible for its mission of "Building and Developing Vietnam." BIDV's 68-year tradition of building and developing has forged generations of BIDV employees who are steadfast in their purpose, ideals, shared beliefs, and actions, contributing persistently to the prosperous development of the country.
Through the comprehensive and synchronized implementation of solutions for developing corporate culture, BIDV's banking system has excellently met the standards of the Vietnamese Business Culture Criteria – the first set of standards on business culture directed by the Prime Minister . BIDV was selected and honored by the National Council for the "Enterprises Meeting Vietnamese Business Culture Standards" at the 2022 certification ceremony.

With cultural values deeply rooted in BIDV's identity, the standardization of corporate culture at BIDV has been implemented systematically and comprehensively throughout the system under the continuous leadership and guidance of the Standing Committee and the Board of Directors. This is coupled with the exemplary conduct of leaders at all levels in their determination to build a standard workplace culture within their units. As a result, this has contributed to the formation of a standardized style of conduct and work practices among bank employees; strengthened discipline, professionalism, and responsibility; and built a disciplined, united, and civilized enterprise; serving as a crucial driving force for BIDV to fulfill its political objectives.
At BIDV, every employee is an ambassador of the bank's culture, a "touchpoint" of emotion when partners and customers work with BIDV. "To customers: Thoughtful and friendly. To partners: Collaborative and developing." These are two of the nine codes of conduct at BIDV, practiced throughout, leaving a mark on BIDV's service style. BIDV employees believe that professionalism in their work and a dedicated, enthusiastic attitude towards customers and partners are the ways to build the BIDV brand and spread it to customers and the community. "Serving a customer well builds trust, confidence, and loyalty to BIDV's products and services, and leads them to choose and recommend BIDV to their relatives and friends," shared Ms. Tran Ngoc Thuy (BIDV Thanh Xuan branch employee).
Along with the systematically and comprehensively implemented Corporate Culture Standardization program throughout the system, BIDV's corporate culture is disseminated through a series of outstanding events such as: Programs honoring innovative initiatives of employees such as the Hack the Idea 2024 Competition; the annual Innovation Day and recognition of scientific research projects, initiatives, and improvements by collectives/individuals; charitable sports programs such as the BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the Poor, the BIDV Run - For a Green Life, the BIDV Sports Festival; competitions and programs on corporate culture linked to professional expertise such as the Service Competition, the Risk Control Culture Competition, etc. And most notably in 2024, the 2024 Cultural Ambassador Competition was organized extensively and enthusiastically with the participation of all employees throughout the system.

Pioneering in building corporate culture.
Throughout its more than 68 years of establishment and development, BIDV has continuously grown and expanded its operations. From an initial scale of only 11 branches and 200 employees, BIDV now has a network of nearly 1,000 branches and transaction offices, along with commercial presences in 5 countries and territories, more than 28,000 highly qualified employees, correspondent relationships with over 2,300 financial institutions, serving more than 15 million individual and corporate customers, making it the commercial bank with the largest customer base in the market.
These achievements are the result of the persistent efforts of the entire system, upholding the cultural traditions and the capabilities and intelligence of BIDV. Striving to create a corporate culture community, contributing to enriching Vietnamese culture in this new development phase, BIDV is a pioneer in building corporate culture within BIDV in particular and the banking industry in general.
Based on research and practical experience, the BIDV Party Committee actively participated in developing the Project and Resolution on building and implementing corporate culture within the central enterprise sector. Deputy Secretary of the BIDV Party Committee, Tran Xuan Hoang, emphasized the role of leaders at all levels in building corporate culture. “The work of building and practicing corporate culture needs to be thoroughly and seriously implemented by leaders at all levels. Emphasis should be placed on promoting the spirit of ‘exemplary leadership’ in building and implementing corporate culture,” he shared.
BIDV also played an active role in developing the Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct for Bank Employees issued by the Vietnam Banking Association in Decision No. 11/QD-HHNH dated February 25, 2019. Accordingly, the Vietnam Banking Association stipulates six professional ethical standards and two codes of conduct for bank employees at its member organizations. These are core requirements and essential ethical qualities for bank employees, contributing to building a positive image of the banking industry and meeting the development needs of the banking sector in the current context.
In its Business Development Strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030, BIDV identifies "Human Resources and Corporate Culture" as one of its three main pillars of development. With a strategic vision and the steadfast and innovative leadership of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of BIDV in implementing the business development strategy and focusing on corporate culture in the new phase, the Party Committee and the entire BIDV system are united and strong, building BIDV into a thriving enterprise and continuing to make worthy contributions to the cause of national construction and development.
