The journey of standardizing corporate culture at BIDV is a strong example, contributing to creating a culture imbued with the identity and character of BIDV - the bank with the longest tradition in Vietnam.
A solid foundation for the development journey
Building a healthy cultural environment in production and business activities is an important and urgent task that Party Committees of enterprises and banks pay attention to in order to build a sustainable development unit. Implementing Conclusion No. 156-KL/TW dated May 21, 2025 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the 11th Central Executive Committee (June 2014) on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country, our Party continues to affirm and establish solutions to "build and develop Vietnamese culture and people to truly become the "foundation", "endogenous resource", "driving force" for rapid and sustainable development of the country in the new era". The building and development of Vietnamese culture and people, building corporate culture and office culture has been, is and will be creating endogenous strength in the process of building and sustainable development at corporations, general companies, banks and large enterprises of the country.
BIDV Party Committee is one of the units that proactively researched, developed and issued Resolution No. 636/NQLT-DU-HĐQT-TGĐ dated July 15, 2022 and Resolution No. 666/NQ-BIDV dated July 15, 2022 on promulgating the BIDV Culture Handbook, stipulating 5 core values, 5 ethical standards, 9 codes of conduct and 18 notes in communication and performance of tasks, applicable to all BIDV employees. Accordingly, the 5 core values: "Intelligence - Trust - Integrity - Professionalism - Aspiration" are the distinct characteristics of BIDV's culture and character.
Party Secretary and Chairman of BIDV Board of Directors Phan Duc Tu sent a message to all staff and employees at BIDV Culture Handbook: “BIDV culture is an extremely valuable asset; it is the driving force that helps BIDV to continuously develop, the fundamental factor that contributes to connecting and creating a source of comprehensive strength for BIDV. BIDV culture is the luggage for us to move together into the future.”
Corporate culture is the spiritual pillar, the glue that binds individuals together to work towards a common goal, common action, and is the source of internal strength for sustainable business development. Recognizing the important role and position of corporate culture, BIDV's Party Committee and Board of Directors strengthen leadership and direction in building and standardizing BIDV's corporate culture to meet the requirements and tasks of BIDV in the new development stage. With the longest tradition in the banking and finance industry in Vietnam, BIDV's corporate culture has been built, nurtured, and clearly demonstrated through specific development strategies and actions. A BIDV with intelligence, courage, and always striving to complete all assigned tasks. A BIDV responsible for the mission of "Building and Developing Vietnam". BIDV's 68-year tradition of construction and development has forged a generation of BIDV staff who are loyal to their goals, ideals, shared beliefs and actions, and together with BIDV, make lasting contributions to the prosperous development of the country.
With the comprehensive and synchronous implementation of solutions to develop corporate culture, BIDV banking system has excellently met the standards of the Vietnamese Business Culture Criteria Set - the first set of standards on business culture directed by the Prime Minister . BIDV was selected and honored by the National Council for reviewing "Enterprises meeting Vietnamese business culture standards" at the 2022 Certification Ceremony.

With cultural values imbued with BIDV's identity, the standardization of corporate culture at BIDV has been implemented systematically and synchronously throughout the system under the consistent leadership and direction of the Standing Committee and the Board of Directors of BIDV. Along with that is the exemplary role of leaders at all levels in their determination to build standards of office culture at the unit. Thanks to that, it has contributed to the formation of a standard style of conduct and working style of bank staff; enhanced discipline, professionalism, responsibility, and built a disciplined, united, and civilized enterprise; which is an important driving force for BIDV to complete its political tasks.
At BIDV, each staff member is the bank's cultural ambassador, the emotional "touch point" when partners and customers work with BIDV. "With customers: Attentive, friendly. With partners: Accompanying, developing." These are 2 of the 9 codes of conduct at BIDV and are practiced throughout, creating an impression in BIDV's service style. BIDV staff members believe that professionalism in work and enthusiasm and dedication to customers and partners are the ways to build the BIDV brand and spread it to customers and the community. "Serve a customer well, the customer will trust, use and love BIDV's products and services and choose and introduce BIDV to relatives and friends," Ms. Tran Ngoc Thuy (BIDV Thanh Xuan staff) shared.
Along with the Corporate Culture Standardization program that is implemented systematically and synchronously throughout the system, BIDV's corporate culture is spread through a series of outstanding events such as: Programs to honor innovative initiatives of staff such as Hack the Idea 2024 Competition; Creativity Festival and honor annual scientific research topics, initiatives, and improvements of collectives/individuals; Charity sports programs such as BIDV Run - Warm Tet for the poor, BIDV Run - For a green life, BIDV Sports Festival; Competitions and programs on corporate culture associated with professional expertise such as Service Competition, Risk Control Culture Competition, etc. And most prominent in 2024, the 2024 Cultural Ambassador Competition is organized extensively and enthusiastically with the participation of all staff and employees in the entire system.

Pioneering in building corporate culture
During more than 68 years of construction and development, BIDV has continuously grown and expanded its operations. From its initial scale of only 11 branches and 200 staff, BIDV now has a network of nearly 1,000 branches and transaction offices and commercial presences in 5 countries and territories, more than 28,000 highly qualified staff, correspondent relationships with more than 2,300 financial institutions, serving more than 15 million individual and corporate customers, being the commercial bank with the largest customer base in the market.
Achieving these achievements is the result of the persistent efforts of the entire system, promoting the cultural tradition and the bravery and intelligence of BIDV. With the effort to build a corporate culture community, contributing to the enrichment and beautification of Vietnamese culture in the new development stage, BIDV is the pioneer in building corporate culture at BIDV in particular and the banking industry in general.
From research and practical implementation experience, BIDV Party Committee actively participated in developing the Project and Resolution on building and implementing corporate culture in the central enterprise sector. Standing Deputy Secretary of BIDV Party Committee Tran Xuan Hoang emphasized the role of leaders at all levels in building corporate culture. “The work of building and practicing corporate culture needs to be thoroughly grasped and implemented by leaders at all levels in a serious and complete manner. It is necessary to focus on and promote the spirit of “exemplary leadership” in building and implementing corporate culture,” he shared.
BIDV is also a member that plays an active role in developing the Code of Professional Ethics and Code of Conduct for banking staff issued by the Vietnam Banking Association in Decision No. 11/QD-HHNH dated February 25, 2019. Accordingly, the Vietnam Banking Association stipulates 6 professional ethics standards and 2 codes of conduct for banking staff at member organizations. These are core requirements and necessary ethical qualities of banking staff, building a good image of the banking industry, meeting the development requirements of the banking industry in the current context.
In the Business Development Strategy to 2025, vision to 2030, BIDV identifies “Human Resources and Corporate Culture” as one of the three main development pillars. With the strategic vision and steadfast, creative leadership of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of BIDV in implementing the business development strategy and paying attention to deploying corporate culture in the new period, the Party Committee and the entire BIDV system are united, strong, building BIDV to develop strongly and continue to make worthy contributions to the cause of building and developing the country.
