Ambassador Pham Viet Hung received the President of the Football Association of Thailand

On the afternoon of October 30, Ambassador Pham Viet Hung received Ms. Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).

At the reception, Ms. Nualphan Lamsam expressed deep regret and sincere apology for the unfortunate incident related to the incorrect display of the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 and U19 futsal tournament on October 28.

She emphasized that this was a completely unintentional mistake. FAT immediately conducted a review and pledged not to let similar mistakes happen in the future.

Football Association of Thailand President Nualphan Lamsam always wants sports to become a bridge between countries.

At the same time, FAT sent a working delegation led by Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan to Vietnam to work and directly explain to the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), under the witness of General Secretary of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) Winston Lee.

Ms. Nualphan shared that she has been involved in football for 18 years and always wants sports, especially football, to become a bridge of friendship connecting countries.

Ms. Nualphan Lamsam expressed special affection for Vietnam.

The FAT President also expressed his special affection for Vietnam and said he always felt the love of Vietnamese football fans during his business trips.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung said that this was a very regrettable incident; he acknowledged the spirit of mutual respect, quick response, goodwill and openness of FAT as well as Chairwoman Nualphan Lamsam in handling the incident.

Ambassador Pham Viet Hung acknowledged the goodwill and openness of the Football Federation of Thailand.

Hopefully similar incidents will not recur in the future; wish that FAT and President Nualphan Lamsam personally continue to play an active role in enhancing cooperation and exchange between the two football foundations, contributing to consolidating and promoting the good cooperative and friendly relationship between the people of the two countries.
