FAT said: "At 3:00 p.m. on October 30, 2025, Ms. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) - President of FAT met with Mr. Pham Viet Hung - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Thailand, to present a flower basket as a sincere apology to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnamese people, after the incident of incorrectly displaying the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U.19 futsal tournament held on October 28, 2025.

Madam Pang shared that she fully understands the dissatisfaction of the Vietnamese people with the recent unfortunate incident. FAT is always aware of, respects and values the national flag of every country, because this is a sacred symbol representing national honor and pride. She expressed the hope that the Vietnamese people will sympathize and forgive this unintentional mistake, a mistake that no one wants to happen.

On the Vietnamese side, Mr. Pham Viet Hung - Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, thanked Madam Pang for her sincere and responsible attitude in admitting her mistakes and fixing the problem since the incident occurred.
He noted that FAT had sent an official letter of apology to VFF and the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), as well as sent Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan - Vice President in charge of futsal and beach soccer - to Hanoi to directly apologize to the VFF President the following day (October 29).

FAT also reminded that Thailand and Vietnam have just upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation in the fields of politics , security, economy, people-to-people exchange and tourism. The two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026, marking an important milestone in bilateral friendship.
