On the afternoon of October 30, President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Nualphan Lamsam (also known as Madam Pang) went to the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok to apologize after the incident of mistakenly displaying the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship.
Here, Ms. Pang met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Thailand Pham Viet Hung at 3 p.m. The FAT President presented flowers and apologized to the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). She said that FAT fully understood the disappointment of the Vietnamese side, and affirmed that this was an unintentional mistake that no one wanted.

According to the FAT announcement, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung acknowledged the goodwill and receptiveness of the FAT President, while emphasizing that this was a technical error on the part of the event organizers. "The Ambassador affirmed that the incident was unintentional and due to the fault of the event organizers," FAT said.
Previously, on October 29, FAT Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan led a delegation to Hanoi to send a letter of apology directly to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, witnessed by ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) General Secretary Winston Lee.
In addition, FAT has also established an investigation committee to clarify the responsibilities of related individuals and committed to thoroughly remedy the situation.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship will take place from December 23 to 29 in Thailand, with the participation of 7 teams, including Vietnam in the same group with host Thailand and Brunei.
