Art performance to welcome Ok Om Bok Festival in Vinh Long province in 2025.
Ok Om Bok Festival, also known as the moon worshiping festival, takes place on the 15th day of the 10th lunar month every year.
This is one of the three major folk festivals of the year of the Khmer people in the South, held at the end of the harvest season to express gratitude to the moon god for helping to protect the crops, regulate the weather, and bring prosperity to the people in the villages.
This is an activity to preserve and promote the fine traditional cultural values of the Khmer people in Vinh Long province, which have been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; at the same time, to introduce and promote to everyone the land and people of Vinh Long, which are friendly, benevolent, affectionate, and have great potential for economic and tourism development.
Vinh Long currently has nearly 4.2 million people, of which the Khmer ethnic group accounts for more than 8% of the population. The poverty rate among the Khmer people is currently 1.6%, and the near-poor rate is 3.2%. Buddhist dignitaries, followers and people in the province actively respond to patriotic emulation movements, live a "good life, good religion", and strengthen the great national unity bloc.
In the 2021-2025 period, the province's tourism industry will recover impressively, attracting nearly 28.3 million visitors; including 2.7 million international visitors, with estimated revenue reaching more than VND 23,600 billion.
