On October 30, in Ninh Binh province, the Vietnam Tourism Training Association in collaboration with the Vietnam Tourism Association and domestic and international partners organized an international scientific conference "Cultural industry with sustainable tourism development in Vietnam in the context of international integration".

Delegates running the workshop
Speaking at the workshop, Professor Dao Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Training Association, emphasized that the cultural industry will have many opportunities to develop in the period of deep integration with the world. Along with that, sustainable tourism is an important feature of culture, and will quickly become a key economic sector in the country's development.
Mr. Dao Manh Hung said that tourism is the most effective promotion channel for the cultural industry, and at the same time, the cultural industry provides tourism with unique products imbued with national identity, contributing to enhancing the competitiveness of destinations. Vietnam aims for cultural industries to contribute 7% of GDP by 2030, in which cultural tourism is identified as an important pillar.
Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association Nguyen Hoang Hai said that in the context of deep international integration, the cultural industry has become one of the creative economic sectors with high growth rates, playing an important role in promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam, while enhancing national competitiveness. Tourism - especially cultural tourism - is increasingly affirmed as a key economic sector, contributing to promoting local economic development, creating jobs and preserving national identity.
From a local perspective, Dr. Bui Van Manh, Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, shared his experience in developing cultural tourism associated with heritage, saying that promoting local values must start with appropriate investment choices that have long-term spillover effects. According to him, "whether cultural tourism can develop or not depends on the locality, thereby creating a resonance to develop the cultural industry of the whole country."

The workshop attracted nearly 200 delegates including scientists, experts, managers and businesses in the fields of culture and tourism.
Professor Kim Joon-ho, Seoul National University (South Korea), shared his experience in developing tourism associated with the cultural industry through the "Hallyu wave" model. He said that Vietnam has great potential to create a "Vietnamese cultural wave" with music, cuisine, cinema and local heritage if it is properly oriented and invested.
According to Professor Dao Manh Hung, for Vietnam’s cultural industry to enter a new era, Vietnam needs to invest heavily in modern cultural infrastructure. Multi-purpose cultural centers, theaters, cinemas and creative spaces that meet international standards need to be built in both large cities and localities.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai proposed the need to build a cultural industrial ecosystem linked to the tourism value chain of each locality, based on cultural identity, creativity and application of digital technology.
At the workshop, experts also suggested that developing the experiential economy is also a potential direction. Combining tourism with cultural experiences such as participating in festivals, learning to make handicrafts, and exploring local cuisine will bring great added value to both the tourism and cultural industries.
