Jordan Chiedozie (1994), a former AFC Bournemouth player, stopped his car in the emergency lane to check his tires when the collision occurred. The incident caused a lot of sympathy from the football community in Dorset (England), as many players knew and played with or against him.
On February 1, 2025, Chiedozie and his latest team, Bashley FC physiotherapist Reighan Taylor, were returning from a Southern League match between Bashley and Tavistock when they stopped their car. The 31-year-old was hit by a car and rushed to the emergency room that night.
Anna Bogusiewicz, 45, of Wraysbury, Berkshire, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. At a preliminary hearing in Southampton earlier this month, Bogusiewicz denied being drunk and has not yet entered a plea to the charge of dangerous driving.

Jordan Chiedozie ends his football career at the age of 31
The next hearing is scheduled to take place at Southampton Crown Court on 1 December. In an interview with the Echo after the accident, Chiedozie said he was facing “different challenges” and was trying to adapt: “You have to stay positive and keep moving forward. If you keep thinking about the past, it doesn’t help the recovery process.”
In July, he was fitted with a prosthetic leg and is learning to “get up and move again”. Immediately after the accident, Chiedozie’s teammates set up a GoFundMe page and raised more than £34,000 for the former player. The former AFC Bournemouth player even said: “I didn’t expect so much support. It’s great to hear from old friends and former teammates.”
Bashley FC Chairman Steve Lewis said: “The community response has been fantastic, not just from our club but from across the UK. The football family has really come together for Jordan and we are incredibly grateful for that.”
Chiedozie was on the payroll of AFC Bournemouth (2012-2014), then he was loaned and transferred to many different clubs and joined Bashley FC in the 2024-2025 season.
