On Nguyen Thai Hoc, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Tran Phu streets… the water receded, leaving behind layers of mud on the streets. The streets were littered with rubbish from all over.

The road leading from this side of the old town across An Hoi bridge to the other side of the northern bank of the Hoai River was as chaotic as a battlefield. The authorities and the people were exhausted cleaning up the mud and collecting the garbage stuck after the flood. All business activities were paralyzed, the shop owners who had been away for many days now returned to open their shops to wash away the mud.

On the morning of October 31, residential areas on the southern bank of the Hoai River were still submerged in mud and water. Relief and rescue work continued without stopping so that no one would be left in need.

After decades of living in floods, this year, Hoi An residents living in ancient houses are doing something that is not very happy: They use paint to mark wooden poles to record historical flood peaks. Since the flood peak of the Dragon Year 1964, this is the first time a new record flood peak has been marked to record an unforgettable moment.
