VFF receives apology letter from FAT for displaying incorrect Vietnamese flag

TPO - On the afternoon of October 29, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Adisak Benjasiriwan, on behalf of President Nualphan Lamsam, directly worked and sent a letter of apology to the VFF leaders regarding the incident of incorrectly displaying the Vietnamese national flag at the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 and U19 Futsal Championship.

The meeting took place under the witness of Mr. Winston Lee, General Secretary of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF).

At the beginning of the working session, Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan read the official apology letter from the President of FAT to the President of VFF Tran Quoc Tuan. In the letter, the Thai side expressed “deep regret” and “sincere apologies” for the incident of misplacing the Vietnamese national flag during the regional futsal tournament draw.

The FAT President affirmed: “We are fully aware of the seriousness of this mistake and take full responsibility for the incident. FAT has immediately reviewed and tightened the organization process to ensure that similar mistakes do not occur."

In the letter, FAT also apologized to VFF, AFF and Vietnamese fans, emphasizing that the incident was "an unintentional mistake, completely disrespectful".

On the official fanpage, FAT also publicly apologized, considering this an "important lesson to be more careful and serious in all organizational stages", thereby demonstrating a spirit of openness and respect for partners.

On the Vietnamese side, VFF leaders acknowledged the goodwill and apology from FAT, and affirmed that this is a "profound lesson in preparing and organizing international events", contributing to improving professionalism in the competition system of Southeast Asian football.

FAT representatives expressed their desire to continue maintaining a close cooperative relationship with VFF, together aiming to develop regional football to be increasingly professional, united and respectful of each other.
