Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: Vietnam's revolutionary press has always been a vanguard force in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity. The National Press Award on corruption, waste and negativity prevention and control, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television, is a place to gather and honor the most outstanding works on this particularly important front.
The Prime Minister said that behind each article and each investigative report is the unceasing creativity, the spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence and courageous commitment of journalists, so that the light of justice and truth can be illuminated, contributing to helping authorities investigate and handle many serious corruption, waste and negative cases; recovering thousands of billions of VND and hundreds of hectares of land for the State, and receiving the support of a large number of cadres, party members and people. Over the past 5 seasons, the award has increasingly affirmed its position, prestige and strong influence, continuing to record many impressive highlights.
The 5th National Press Awards Ceremony on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity aims to honor outstanding press works on the topic of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; to encourage and motivate journalists nationwide, and to continue to strongly promote the role of the press in detecting, fighting and condemning acts of corruption, waste and negativity.
After 2 years of implementation, the Organizing Committee of the award received 1,110 press works submitted in 4 categories: print, electronic, radio, and television from 90 press agencies at the central and local levels. The works were evaluated to have content that closely followed the theme, focusing on timely and comprehensive reflection of the Party and State's fight against corruption, waste, and negativity with the motto: "Persistence, continuity, no forbidden areas, no exceptions".
At the award ceremony, 44 best works were honored, including: 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 12 C prizes and 18 Encouragement prizes. In which, author Quach Tuan Quynh, Tuyen Quang Newspaper, Radio and Television won the Encouragement prize in the television category with the work "Clean water does not come back - Whose responsibility is it?".
