Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh - the great teacher of the Vietnamese Revolution, national liberation hero, and world cultural celebrity of Vietnam - advised: "Corruption, waste and bureaucracy are enemies of the people," a kind of "internal invader."
Taking to heart his advice, our Party and State have focused on directing the drastic, synchronous and strict implementation of the "uncompromising" fight against corruption, waste and negativity with the motto of no "forbidden zones" and no "exceptions" and have achieved many very important and comprehensive results, which have been approved and supported by the people and highly appreciated by the international community, including the positive contributions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, press agencies and journalists.
The Vietnamese revolutionary press has always been a vanguard force in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity. The National Press Award on the Prevention of Corruption, Waste, and Negativity, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television, is a place to gather and honor the most outstanding works on this particularly important front.
The Prime Minister said that behind each article and each investigative report is the unceasing creativity, the spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence and courageous commitment of journalists, so that the light of justice and truth can be illuminated, contributing to helping authorities investigate and handle many serious corruption, waste and negative cases; recovering thousands of billions of VND and hundreds of hectares of land for the State, receiving the support of a large number of cadres, party members and people.
Through 5 seasons, the National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity has increasingly affirmed its position, prestige and strong influence; promoting the success of previous seasons, the Prime Minister said that this year's Award continues to record many impressive "highlights".

The award attracted the participation of a large number of journalists and press agencies, with more than 1,100 works of diverse genres and improved quality. The works all closely followed the policies and orientations of the Party and State, the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity. The works were all highly topical, recording issues arising from practice, reflecting the truth, "naming and shaming," directly condemning individuals and groups with negative manifestations.
The Prime Minister affirmed that many works reflect good people, good deeds, bravely fighting corruption, waste, and negativity, and have a high impact. Many works clearly demonstrate the supervisory and critical role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the active participation of the people in preventing corruption, waste, and negativity.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the units that successfully organized this very meaningful Press Award; congratulated the 44 authors and groups of authors whose excellent works were honored at the ceremony, making an important contribution to the fight against corruption, waste and negativity of our Party, State and people.
The Prime Minister noted that in the new era, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity continues to be identified by our Party and State as a key task that is both urgent and long-term, and an important premise to promote the country's rapid and sustainable development.
With the motto of "proactive prevention, early detection, from afar, not letting small violations accumulate into big mistakes," this persistent and steadfast struggle requires the participation of the entire political system and the entire population, including the important role of the press, journalists, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations; the participation and supervision of the people. All violations and crimes of corruption, waste, and negativity are known to the people, and we must truly rely on the people so that this arduous struggle can achieve better results.

Therefore, the Prime Minister requested to continue to strongly promote the key role of the press, building a team of journalists who are "steadfast, not retreating in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert in the face of temptations; steadfast and persistent in political courage; dedicated and sharp in expertise; humane in practice; resolute and brave in struggle," pioneering, exemplary, leading, and uncompromising in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity with the spirit of "steel in the pen - fire in the heart."
The Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations continue to perform well the tasks of social supervision and criticism, further promoting the role and strength of the people in detecting and fighting against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity.
The Prime Minister requested Party committees and authorities at all levels to focus on thoroughly grasping and promptly implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies, strengthen coordination, create favorable conditions, accompany and protect the press, journalists and organizations and individuals who bravely fight against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes and believes that the National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity will continue to innovate, create strong influence, add motivation, inspiration and confidence for journalists to freely create, contribute their talents, enthusiasm and intelligence to the cause of fighting against corruption, waste and negativity; contribute to building a professional, humane and modern revolutionary press; build a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy country in the new era./.
