According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, the working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits achieved many important results, demonstrating a dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible Vietnam and as affirmed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Vietnam is a member with a very important role in ASEAN.
New milestone of ASEAN common home
As the biggest event series of the year of ASEAN, the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits have the participation of nearly 30 heads of state and heads of government of ASEAN countries and ASEAN partner countries and organizations such as: China, the United States, Japan, Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Nations, the European Union, the International Monetary Fund...
With more than 20 high-level meetings and activities, the leaders discussed many issues of ASEAN and the region, as well as related and common world issues. Thereby, the leaders signed, approved and acknowledged nearly 70 documents to promote cooperation within ASEAN and between ASEAN and its partners in many priority areas, especially in politics , economics, trade, security... to concretize the goals set out in the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
Notably, ASEAN officially admitted Timor Leste as the 11th member of the bloc; Thailand and Cambodia signed a joint declaration on the peace agreement, marking an official step towards ending the conflict and restoring peace along the disputed border between the two countries.
Attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits in the spirit of celebrating 30 years of Vietnam joining the ASEAN common home, in just 3 days, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a busy schedule with nearly 50 bilateral and multilateral activities.
The Prime Minister and the Vietnamese delegation participated in nearly 30 conferences and related activities. Along with sharing the situation, vision and development strategy of Vietnam, and Vietnam's foreign policy, the Prime Minister gave analysis and comments on the situation and trends in the region and the world. On that basis, he discussed and proposed initiatives to promote cooperation and seek solutions to current issues facing ASEAN and the region.
Speaking at the Plenary Session of the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that “inclusiveness and sustainability” is the strategic choice and requirement of ASEAN; at the same time, he suggested that ASEAN promote three sources of strategic strength to realize this goal, including: the strength of solidarity and unity; dynamic vitality, autonomy, self-reliance, intra-bloc connectivity; and the resilience of innovation and creativity.
At the high-level dialogue session within the framework of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2025 (ABIS 2025), the Prime Minister answered and shared about Vietnam's development priorities, innovation strategy and commitment to sustainable and comprehensive growth of Vietnam, in line with ASEAN and world trends; hoping that international friends would share the vision and actions, grow together, develop together, enjoy the results together, and share joy and happiness.

According to Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, the statements of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh were highly appreciated by the countries, because the Prime Minister shared and assessed the current situation in a responsible and correct manner; and at the same time, proposed appropriate directions for the situation. In particular, the Prime Minister had important initiatives related to the implementation of the cooperation and development plan in the region, as well as issues related to upgrading the partnership between ASEAN and a number of other partners...
Unite and connect to move towards the future
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at all ASEAN Summits with partners such as China, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Nations, etc. Here, the Prime Minister proposed many practical and highly topical issues, emphasizing strengthening solidarity; as well as new directions for cooperation in all fields of politics, economics, energy conversion, science and technology, etc., which were highly appreciated by the countries.
Speaking at the ASEAN-US Summit, the Prime Minister proposed four major orientations to develop ASEAN-US cooperation strongly, substantially and effectively, such as: promoting economic, trade and investment connectivity; cooperation in digital transformation, innovation and energy security; strengthening cyber security and preventing transnational crimes; and enhancing cooperation, maintaining peace, security and stability in the region.
At the ASEAN-China Summit, in the spirit of solidarity is strength, cooperation brings common benefits, dialogue and sharing to better understand each other, the Prime Minister proposed three strategic orientations: enhancing smart, inclusive and sustainable connectivity; enhancing innovation, creating new momentum for growth breakthroughs; consolidating strategic trust, maintaining regional peace and stability, including building the East Sea into a sea of peace, stability, cooperation and development.
In the ASEAN-Japan relationship, the Prime Minister proposed three key areas of cooperation to promote economic connectivity; cooperation in education, training, healthcare, science and technology and environmental protection; and cooperation to maintain regional peace, security and stability. At the ASEAN-India Summit, the Prime Minister proposed three major orientations to strengthen connectivity and expand cooperation in various fields, including maritime cooperation, green and sustainable development...
In his role as coordinator of ASEAN-New Zealand relations, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed three main focuses of cooperation: maintaining a peaceful, stable, and cooperative environment for development; promoting economic connectivity, promoting new growth drivers; and enhancing people-to-people connectivity.
The important contributions of the Prime Minister and the Vietnamese delegation contributed to the success of the Conference and helped to deepen and increase the effectiveness of cooperation within ASEAN and between ASEAN and its partners.
Regarding Vietnam's efforts and contributions, especially at this Conference, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Vietnam is a member with a very important role in ASEAN. Vietnam is experiencing impressive economic growth; has signed many cooperation agreements, including agreements with Malaysia. Malaysia - Vietnam relations are also developing very well. The two sides need to cooperate to strengthen this relationship.
Promote relationships with specific, practical programs
On this occasion, the Prime Minister arranged and took advantage of every possible time to meet most of the 30 Heads of Delegation attending the Conference, including Leaders of ASEAN countries and partner countries, international organizations such as: Prime Minister of China, President of the United States, Prime Minister of Japan, President of South Korea, President of Brazil, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of New Zealand, Prime Minister of Canada, President of the European Council, General Director of the International Monetary Fund...
At the meetings, the Prime Minister and leaders of countries and organizations exchanged, discussed and promoted bilateral cooperation in all priority areas that Vietnam has needs, partners have strengths and vice versa, as well as shared regional and international issues of mutual concern. In particular, the Prime Minister went straight to specific issues in cooperation with each partner and received high consensus.

With the US President, the Prime Minister proposed to recognize Vietnam as a market economy, remove Vietnam from the D1 and D3 strategic export lists, and sign a reciprocal trade agreement. With the Chinese Prime Minister, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote railway cooperation through specific programs and projects.
With the President of the European Council (EU), the Prime Minister proposed to soon consider removing the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood; make full use of opportunities brought about by the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, and at the same time urge the remaining EU countries to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement.
With the President of the Republic of Korea, the President of Indonesia, and the Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made specific proposals for the two sides to promptly implement and realize the agreements and results of the recent visit of General Secretary To Lam to the two countries. With the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, the Prime Minister suggested speeding up exchanges and negotiations, and soon signing agreements to build the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant...
In particular, on this occasion, Vietnam and the United States issued a Joint Statement on the framework of the Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade Agreement; Vietnam and Singapore announced the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, at the meetings of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh with leaders of countries and organizations, the partners highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements, especially in socio-economic development; at the same time, they attached great importance to Vietnam's international position, especially its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, friendship, multilateralization, diversification, and harmonious development of relations with all countries, being good friends with all countries and the international community. Through the meetings, the Prime Minister and leaders of countries and organizations agreed on new cooperation directions, meeting the requirements of each side in the new development stage and in new fields.
It can be affirmed that the Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits actively participated and effectively contributed to the success of the Summits, contributing to promoting the building of a united, self-reliant, inclusive and sustainable ASEAN Community, taking people as the center, linking national development with regional development. At the same time, promoting the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and its partners to become increasingly in-depth, substantive, and practically effective; for peace, stability, cooperation and development of each country, in the region and the world./.
