Doctolib, a leading French digital healthcare platform, plans to launch an AI-powered medical assistant to help users access accurate health information and combat the spread of misinformation on social media.
According to the VNA correspondent in Paris, Stanislas Niox-Chateau, co-founder and CEO of Doctolib, stated: "We want to bring AI to patients," affirming that this project is "a French initiative, sovereign and based on serious scientific principles," built in collaboration with doctors and researchers in the country.
Niox-Chateau emphasized that health misinformation is a global pandemic as more and more people self-treat based on information from TikTok or Instagram.
He stated: "Our goal is to regain the initiative in providing reliable health information."
With over 50 million users in France, Doctolib has been quick to adopt AI in clinics, using "digital assistants" to help doctors handle administrative tasks, generate bills, and transmit data to health insurance agencies. Since its deployment, approximately 5 million patient visits have been supported by AI.
The new assistant is geared towards individual users, providing "authenticated and personalized" health content to help people track their health, stay updated on vaccinations and screenings, and receive preventative health recommendations.
This application will begin rolling out in the next few weeks.
Doctolib emphasizes that this AI application does not provide diagnoses or prescriptions, but only offers information and guidance based on official French medical data sources.
The entire service will comply with European Union (EU) data security standards and the official care procedures of the French healthcare system.
