Karate and Taekwondo continued their successful run, bringing home consecutive gold medals for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

On the afternoon of December 13th, Vietnamese Karate athletes excelled, opening the scoring for the Vietnamese delegation with a "hat-trick" of gold medals.

Hoang Thi My Tam won the first gold medal of the day after defeating Maneevan of host country Thailand in the 61kg weight category final.

My Tam had a poor start but quickly regained control and dominated her opponent before winning the match 11-2.

Following in the footsteps of Hoang Thi My Tam's success, Nguyen Thanh Truong also staged an impressive comeback to defeat Arif of Indonesia in the men's 84kg final.

Thanh Trường fell behind but then scored four consecutive points to win the match 4-1, securing Vietnam's second gold medal on the afternoon of December 13th.

Shortly afterwards, Karate continued its explosive performance as Dinh Thi Huong won the women's 68kg final, completing a "gold hat-trick."

In the final, Dinh Thi Huong displayed great composure to win 8-5 against Yefanz of the Indonesian sports delegation.

Thus far, the Karate team has won a total of 5 gold medals at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

Earlier, on December 12th, martial artist Khuat Hai Nam dominated the match to defeat Thai home fighter Chanchang in the final of the men's 67kg Kumite category.

On December 11th, female athletes Nguyen Thi Phuong, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Hoang Thi Thu Uyen also defeated the host team Thailand to win the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games in the women's team karate performance event.

Following the success of Karate, the Taekwondo team also contributed another gold medal with an impressive performance by Tran Thi Anh Tuyet.

In the 57kg weight class final, Anh Tuyet faced immense pressure against Harnsujin of host country Thailand, but she remained calm and ultimately won 2-1 (7-2, 13-13 and 8-3).

This is also the fourth gold medal that the Taekwondo team has brought home for the Vietnamese sports delegation after four days of competition.

The impressive performances of Karate and Taekwondo on the afternoon of December 13th helped the Vietnamese sports delegation maintain its firm second place position on the SEA Games 33 medal table.

As of 3:30 PM on December 13th, the Vietnamese sports delegation had won 28 gold medals, 19 silver medals, and 44 bronze medals.

On this competition day, the Vietnamese sports delegation's performance will surely be even better as many athletes will participate in the finals to compete for gold medals.

In swimming, promising athletes like Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Van Nguyen Quoc, and Nguyen Thuy Hien have all qualified for the finals.

In athletics, Vietnamese fans are focusing their attention on the golden girl Nguyen Thi Oanh as she competes in the women's 5,000m final, which takes place at 6:45 PM.

At the 33rd SEA Games, Nguyen Thi Oanh competed for medals in three events: the 5,000m, the 3,000m steeplechase, and the 10,000m.
