Weightlifting continues to receive good news at the 2025 Asian Youth Games

On the evening of October 28 (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese Sports Delegation entered the 5th day of competition at the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain with three events: Cycling, Weightlifting, and Badminton.

Notably, on this competition day, Vietnamese weightlifter Y Lien (53kg women's category) excellently brought home a Silver Medal in the clean and jerk event when she successfully lifted 106kg in the 3rd round. The Gold Medal winner in this event belonged to weightlifter Park Hae Yon (DPRK) with a result of 107kg.

A few minutes earlier, Y Lien also brought home a Bronze Medal in the snatch event after 3 rounds of competition (2 successful attempts with the highest weight of 82kg). Leading the snatch event was weightlifter Pak Hae Yon with a result of 88kg.

After the two events of clean and jerk, young athlete Y Lien won the total with a result of 188kg, ranking second, while Park Hae Yon ranked first with 195kg. However, at the 2025 Asian Youth Games, Weightlifting, the organizers of the Games only considered the results of clean and jerk to award medals.

According to experts: In her first time competing at the Asian Youth Games, Y Lien competed very calmly and followed the tactics given by her coach.

Y Lien's achievements continue to affirm the position and strength of Vietnamese Sports - Weightlifting in the continental arena at the youth level, while creating favorable psychological momentum for the athletes who will continue to compete in the coming days at the 2025 Asian Youth Games.
