Hue: City leaders overcome floods to visit and give gifts to households in severely flooded areas

Party Central Committee member, City Party Secretary Nguyen Dinh Trung visited and encouraged the elderly affected by floods.

On the afternoon of October 29, the leaders of the Standing Committee of the Hue City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Hue City, led by comrades: Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Trung; Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, organized a working delegation to directly visit, encourage and give relief gifts to people isolated by floods in Quang Dien commune, Hue city.

Also joining the delegation were Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Party Secretary, Director of the City Police Department, and representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors and local authorities in low-lying areas.

Hue city leaders crossed the flood to visit and give gifts to households in severely flooded areas in Quang Dien commune.

At the destinations, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the City People's Committee and members of the delegation promptly visited, encouraged, shared and supported food and instant noodles for households severely affected by floods.

The city leaders also listened to the thoughts and wishes of the households after days of being affected by prolonged floods. In response to the damage and difficulties that the people are suffering, the city leaders sent their condolences and encouraged the people to make efforts to overcome and soon stabilize production and life.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Party Secretary and Director of the City Police, said: The armed forces in the area always determine the spirit of being ready to be on duty, stay close to the base, support people in all natural disaster situations, ensure security and order, safety of people's lives and property, and at the same time maintain relief work, overcome the consequences of floods in the fastest and most effective way.

Not only bringing practical gifts, the visit also shows the affection, responsibility and deep concern of the city government for people in disaster-stricken areas, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity, affection and trust in the companionship of all levels and sectors in the work of preventing, fighting and overcoming the consequences of floods.

* On the same day, Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoang, Deputy Director of Hue City Police, visited Hue Central Hospital to visit and encourage Sergeant Phan Luong Hai of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force who was injured while on duty to rescue people in the flood area.

Previously, on the night of October 27, while assisting people in evacuating from a deeply flooded area in the center of Hue city, Sergeant Phan Luong Hai and his teammates received an emergency order on Hung Vuong street (Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city) where 4 people were trapped in a heavily flooded area.

Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoang kindly visited and praised the brave spirit and wholehearted service to the people of Sergeant Phan Luong Hai.

Immediately, Sergeant Phan Luong Hai and his teammates crossed the flood to reach the area where people needed rescue. At about 0:30 on October 28, after reaching and bringing 2 children and 1 adult out of the danger zone with his teammates, on the way back to rescue the fourth person, Sergeant Phan Luong Hai was unfortunately cut by a piece of corrugated iron near an artery.

Despite his injuries, determined to bring people in the dangerous area to safety, Sergeant Hai and his teammates continued to evacuate many people trapped in the flood to the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police headquarters to avoid the flood; then, his teammates took him to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment at around 1 a.m. on October 28. After receiving timely emergency care from doctors and nurses, Hai's health has stabilized and he continues to be treated and monitored.

At Hue Central Hospital, Colonel Nguyen Viet Hoang kindly visited and praised the bravery and devotion to serving the people of Sergeant Phan Luong Hai and his teammates; at the same time, he wished him a speedy recovery so that he can continue to work with his teammates to carry out the task of protecting the security and safety of the people. Sergeant Phan Luong Hai's brave example is a clear demonstration of the image of a People's Public Security soldier who forgets himself for the country and serves the people.
