
While coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are looking forward to the match against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Vietnam U22 team is entering a key training phase ahead of the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will gather from November 10 to 19. After gathering at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the team will move to Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ) to practice from November 11 to 14, before going to Laos to compete in the 5th round of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup from November 15 to 19.
At the same time, the Vietnam U22 team also has two important training sessions. In the fourth session (from November 10 to 19), the team will participate in the Panda Cup 2025 International Friendly Tournament in China, with strong opponents such as China U22, Uzbekistan U22 and Korea U22. The team is expected to call up about 26 players for this tournament.
Immediately after the Panda Cup ends, U22 Vietnam will enter the 5th training session (from November 23 to December 19), which is considered the "general rehearsal" period for the 33rd SEA Games. The team will train in Vung Tau from November 23 to 29, then move to Ho Chi Minh City and leave for Thailand on December 2 to attend the Congress.
At the 33rd SEA Games, men's football has 10 participating teams, divided into three groups: Group A and B with 3 teams each, Group C with 4 teams. The teams compete in a round robin, the three group winners and the second-placed team with the best results will qualify for the semi-finals.
According to the draw results, U22 Vietnam is in Group B with U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos. The group stage takes place from December 3 to 12; the semi-finals on December 15; the final and the bronze medal match on December 18, 2025.
The tournament will take place at three stadiums: Rajamangala (Bangkok), Tinsulanonda (Songkhla) and 700th Anniversary (Chiang Mai), with Rajamangala hosting the semi-finals and finals.
In the group stage, U22 Vietnam will meet U22 Laos on December 5 and U22 Malaysia on December 11 at 700th Anniversary Stadium, Chiang Mai.
