Bac Ninh Newspaper, Radio and Television won the B prize of the 5th National Press Award for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

The program is organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television.

The 2024-2025 Anti-Corruption, Waste, and Negativity Journalism Award attracted more than 1,100 works from authors and groups of authors from central and local press agencies across the country.

The preliminary jury selected 91 outstanding works for the final round, in four categories: print, electronic, television and radio. As a result, 44 outstanding works were awarded, including: 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 12 C prizes, and 18 Encouragement prizes.

The group of authors: Trinh Lan - Mai Toan - Nguyen Huong, Bac Ninh Newspaper, Radio and Television unit excellently won the B prize with a series of 5 articles: "Discovery of large-scale deforestation in Luc Nam".

The series of articles reflects the large-scale deforestation of natural forests in Luc Son commune, Luc Nam district (old), which has caused large areas of forest to be wiped out. Following the case, the group of reporters worked with related subjects to clarify the sophisticated deforestation methods.

After the newspaper published, the authorities stepped in to verify, clarify, handle and prosecute the criminal case, and prosecute the accused. Deforestation was prevented, increasing deterrence and ensuring the strictness of the law.

According to the assessment of the Final Jury, this year's Award has the participation of many central and local press agencies. The works focus on reflecting on the topic of preventing and combating corruption and negativity; at the same time, they focus on propagating and reflecting on the practice of thrift and combating waste in the whole society. Many works have strongly criticized and condemned wasteful acts; propagandized the results of the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity in both the State and non-State sectors.

The works are highly appreciated for their quality, investment in themes, topics, and rich expression methods, following the trends of modern journalism.

Through this, the press promptly reflects and fights against the "fear of responsibility", the mindset of working half-heartedly, avoiding, pushing, and being afraid of making mistakes among cadres and party members, especially leaders and managers at all levels; building a culture of integrity, no corruption, waste, and negativity among cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and the people.
