On the afternoon of October 29, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), a working delegation of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) led by Vice President Adisak Benjasiriwan had a meeting and explained to the VFF leadership about the incident of mistakenly displaying the Vietnamese national flag. The incident took place during the draw ceremony for the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 and U19 Futsal Championship held in Bangkok (Thailand) on October 28.
The meeting was also witnessed by Mr. Winston Lee - General Secretary of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF).
On behalf of FAT President, Ms. Nualphan Lamsam - Madam Pang, Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan read the apology letter sent to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and VFF. In the letter, FAT President expressed his deep regret and sincere apology for the incident of misplacing the Vietnamese national flag at the draw ceremony of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship.

Mr. Adisak Benjasiriwan, on behalf of FAT, sent an apology and explanation for the incident.
The letter also affirmed: "We are fully aware of the seriousness of this error and take full responsibility for the incident that occurred. The Football Association of Thailand has immediately taken corrective measures, reviewed and tightened the event organization process, to ensure that similar errors will not recur."
The FAT President also emphasized: "The Football Association of Thailand would like to sincerely apologize to the Vietnam Football Federation, the Southeast Asian Football Federation and all relevant parties. We appreciate your sympathy and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and respect in all AFF events hosted by Thailand."
Last night (October 28), FAT posted an apology on its official fanpage, apologizing to VFF and Vietnamese fans. FAT affirmed that this was an "unintentional human error, with absolutely no intention of disrespecting Vietnam", and considered the incident an important lesson to improve caution and professionalism in event organization.
VFF acknowledged the spirit of openness and goodwill, and highly appreciated FAT's proactive admission of mistakes and direct work.
VFF affirmed that this was a serious mistake but also a profound lesson in preparing and organizing international tournaments, contributing to improving professionalism in the Southeast Asian competition system.
FAT representatives pledged not to let similar mistakes happen again, and at the same time wished to continue to maintain a close cooperative relationship with Vietnam, together developing Southeast Asian football in a professional and sustainable direction.
However, Vietnamese football fans still did not accept it and left many mixed comments on the post on the VFF fanpage about the meeting between the leaders of the two federations.
