The information was posted on Madam Pang's social media account, after she met Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, to apologize for the national flag mistake during the futsal tournament draw.
"At 3:00 p.m. on October 30, 2025, Ms. Nualphan Lamsam, President of the Football Association of Thailand, met with Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Thailand, to express her sincere apology to the Vietnam Football Federation and the people of Vietnam for the misuse of the Vietnamese national flag during the draw ceremony for the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship on October 28, 2025.
The Federation always acknowledges, respects and cherishes the image of the national flag, because it is an important symbol. The national flag represents the dignity and honor of the nation. I hope the Vietnamese people will forgive and understand this unintentional mistake, which no one wants to happen," social media account Madam Pang wrote.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of October 28, when the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) conducted a draw to divide the groups and schedule the matches for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship and the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship in Thailand.
At the drawing ceremony, there was an unacceptable mistake when the drawing with the name Vietnam was used by the organizing committee with the Chinese national flag instead of the Vietnamese national flag.

More importantly, the draw was live-streamed on the Football Association of Thailand website. Therefore, the confusion was widespread and even more serious.
After the incident, VFF sent an official document to the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) as well as the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) to protest and request clarification.
Thailand then apologized to VFF as well as the Vietnamese people in many forms, including sending a delegation to apologize on October 29.
Today, Madam Pang continues to express her sincere apology and said that Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Thailand, thanked "Mrs. Pang" for her sincere apology.
It is known that Ambassador Pham Viet Hung also confirmed that he understood the whole incident, that this was an unintended incident and the fault of the organizing committee.
